I've had the pleasure of seeing that dusty rose Cinelli up close and personal and riding with bibliobob, both at the most recent Eroica CA. The post does not do justice to either. Gorgeous bike, great guy.

one near Winterset, Iowa, on RAGBRAI 19. One of the "bridges of Madison County" that were getting discussed a lot back then.
a bit south of St. Louis, you can find the very secluded Sandy Creek covered bridge, and the small park that surrounds it.
And a bit north of me is this wonderfully restored and functional covered bridge called The Captain Swift Bridge, near Princeton, IL
hmmm.... restored or new? Turns out that it is new, as the date on the bridge suggests, and this web page confirms.

Finally went for a ride today. I cross a number of bridges and tool pictures along the way. Poor quality because I was more interested in riding than pic taking. Only the half decent ones are below.
First up is the new Chattem Bridge across the Rappahannock
Next is a run that a couple of bridges cross. This is a rail to trail MUP.
Finally one of several bridges across the Fredericksburg Canal.

This ride I was on my 1990 Bridgestone CB Zip bike.
Picture shows bike on the Ron Kirk Bridge which is a pedestrian / bike bridge over the Trinity River.
Previously it was the Continental Avenue Bridge for auto traffic. After the Margaret Hill Hunt was built they converted it to a pedestrian bridge.
It's a very cool bridge that even has a little splash pool on it as well as picnic tables, seating areas, etc.
In the picture you can see the tall white span of the parallel Margaret Hill Hunt bridge for auto traffic and the Reunion Tower and downtown area.

I've been in the Dallas/ Ft Worth area a long time (decades) and it's great to see the pedestrian/ bike infrastructure being built up
It's been a long time coming.
As I understand in the not too distant future a bike path will be completed connecting Dallas and Ft Worth.
That would be a 30 to 40 mile ride depending on where one stops.
I look forward to riding over on my bike and taking the train back when it's finished.

Now I feel a bit obliged to either keep it alive, or maybe contribute to its death.
Not exactly sure which this is, but these are pics of the McPhaul Bridge on the Gila river, near Yuma, AZ.
I was stationed in Yuma around 1980 and biking in the area when I found the bridge. Even then, it was closed to traffic, but the modest pile of rock in front of it didn't stop me from wandering out onto the span. If you look closely, you can see my Raleigh Gran Sport parked on the left....
a side view of the bridge. A nice basic suspension bridge, but it didn't actually go anywhere other than across the river. Once over there, the road didn't continue.

The bridge seems to have become known as the Bridge to Nowhere.

While the bridge isn't that impressive in general, just the oddness of a suspension bridge in the desert kind of makes it novel and intriguing.
