1991 Schwinn High Plains

Cruising offerup and older ads I found a 1991 High Plains for 25 bucks, unfortunately the best part of it is the True Temper f/f
The rest of it is low end 200GS stuff. But it's original. 25 bucks is all I paid for this 57cm monster.

I look forward to seeing it cleaned and polished. Any build plans yet?

Just some tires and a set of cables along with a good scrubbing. it'll have to move on this spring, it's too big for me.
I'd have no issue parting it out if someone wanted the frame and fork for a build.

I had no idea Weinmann ever made rims (or had them made) in the USA... Apparently they were made in Olney, Illinois for some time.
It was nice to learn something new!

I have a pair of those beartrap clone pedals and I quite like them. If you're moving this along, I might see if I had a lesser pair in the parts bin to swap out.

Black gold with Drizzle

I have this bike as well and your assessment is correct. Frame is the find and just waiting for change out versions and upgraded parts.

Love mine! Currently getting a set of Woodchipper bars and brifters to begin another season of riding.

Read up on the paint scheme, no two are alike or so they say.
