I've been on a LeMond Alpe d'Huez, for 3 seasons now and it was time to look into a new bike. The full aluminum was to rough on the long rides.
I just picked up a 2005 Orbea Lobular 100 on ebay for $1350, It has Ultagra/DuraAce mix with Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheels. It does have a few miles on it, 4000 or so, but I don't mind replacing componants that have a little wear.
What should I expect from a the Orbea frame with that many miles on it? Did I get a good deal? And now that I'm in the club, how exactly does one pronounce Orbea? (I'd hate to be a year down the road and have someone tell me the b is silent

Just bought new Blue/Black Orca, size 54 on 5/22. Have 346 miles on it now, including a hilly century on first Saturday I had it. Have full D/A plus K-Force compact cranks. Weighed about 15.5 lbs at shop w/o pedals. Rides very nice and climbs very well. Springs forward when standing on pedals in climb or sprint. Not sure how much of the great climbing is from the compact cranks or the bike or combination. Had Colnago Ti bike with 39/53 in front before and it did not jump forward or climb like the Orca. I also like the D/A much better than the Record on the Colnago. Smoother. I even like the stock seat!

Well I'll be damned... glad I decided to stop in here again! So you're telling me I've done 1500 miles at minimum pressure? Sheesh - I even raced on them like that! I'll go up to 100 for the next week before jumping up to 120 - I think if I jump right to 120, I'll be in for a pretty stiff ride.

Derek. What tires are you running? Rubino Pro on my Onix. I rode most of last autumn @100 psi. Then went to 110 this spring. Jumped to 120 a few weeks ago, wish I had done it much sooner. So much faster at 120 and will protect you from pinch flats too. Hardly noticed a difference in how the bike rides.

Michelin Speediums - which came stock with the bike. As I posted earlier, I've been impressed with them as a training tire. They're not exactly the easiest rolling tires in the world but they're durable. They show very little wear at all. I'll eventually be getting some race wheels and tires, but the R-500 wheels and Speediums will continue to be my choice for training rides.

I just bought a 2006 Orbea Volata. I really like the feel and ride of this bike. The only things I don't like about it are the tires (Vittoria Zaffiro) and the stock brakes. I'm changing the tires to Vredenstein Tri-Comp's. As for the brakes still undedcided as to just buy better pads or to spend a few bucks and get Campy Centaur brakes. Any suggestions on the brake isssue. I'm not a racer so weight is not an issue but do believe in having good tires and brakes. I ride about 150-200 miles a week. Thanks guys.

I love the green. You hardly ever see that color on bikes. The orange is really nice too.

Here's my '06 Orca, one month old, with Dura Ace 10 spd, Rolf Prima Elan Aero wheelset with titanium skewers (1295 grams for the wheelset), titanium hardware and speedplay pedals. Weighs 14.75 lbs. without pedals, just a smidgeon over 15 lbs. with pedals. Love the ride...stiff as a board on the climbs...it is a climbing machine...

I just took my Volata back to the shop today for it's free 30 day adjustment courtesy of the bike shop where I just bought it. I had them change out the Zeus Pro brake pads for the salmon kool stops. While I was there, I noticed that the fork was not the Zeus AC Fork that was advertised when I first saw it on the Orbea website. The shop owner told me that during the second half of the year Orbea upgraded to a different fork on this model. I then saw today on the Orbea-usa website that the fork they replaced is on their lowest end model. What gives here? He told me that for $200 I could upgrade my fork to the Zeus FCM SL. So I guess I'm going to upgrade this fork to the FCM.

Anybody know where I can get some Orbea water bottles? The Trek ones I've got now clash with the Euskaltel paint job.

Got a 2005 Orbea Lobular 100 this spring. Over 1,000 miles and I love it. Handles great and climbs.

^it looks great live...to the casual observer, it almost looks lik "Oreo," particularly the down tube. So of course I went online to find an oreo jersey, but it doesn't exist.

im a new onix owner. just got mine two weeks ago. i have less than 100 miles on it. i can thank my quad cramps for that. i love the bike. i got mine in black and orange. 2006 edition btw. post pics later when i get the chance.

I have 2006 Onix in black and orange. Ultegra with Mavic SL wheels. I love it. I have seen the new 2007 Orca's and all I can say is Wow. What a sweet bike.

Hi there...I have been road riding for about 18 months now. Started though work on a loaner from a friend (Marin) which I rode for 6 months and then bought a 2005 Orbea Mitis. I am in love with the bike...my wife calls her my girlfriend and I have to say "she" is in the living room quite often (being cleaned etc). Anyway, I am upgrading to an Onix within the next 2 weeks...buying the frame from a buddy. Looking forward to it.
