Van Aert has been amazing. Getting in the break nearly every day and driving the pace.

It's a more believable race that's for sure. At a minimum, it's not the same boring crap with Sky doing whatever the hell they wanted when they wanted. It's much better because the teams are far more even, and really not that great (compared to previous eras), no one is sending 8 guys to the front and preventing anyone from doing anything.

Agree with you all- the GC portion of the race has been much more exciting this year. Also, the dynamics between the break and the peloton have been really interesting. OTOH, not so much for the fans of great sprint finishes.

Quick Step should be ashamed.

Well, maybe they should, but Jakobsen did win one of the true sprint finishes. Maybe blame the organizers too. The route wasn't set up for a lot of sprint finishes. (It was set up to make things hard for Pogacer). And the breakaway dynamics were such that some of the finishes that could have been a bunch sprint didn't end up that way. There was no way that anybody (name your favorite sprinter here) was going to win 4 stages, as Cav did last year.

I don't agree. Everyone knew from the very start that this year's Tour was not for the sprinter's per se and that they would struggle. Some Tour's are like that. Fabio won a stage and he has made an immense effort to still be in the race to contest either today or final stage; something many armchair fans don't appreciate.
It has been a tough Tour for all sprinters and I don't believe Quick Step made any major errors, indeed, I think they've done ok, all things considered. If Fabio can get one more stage then it will have been a big success for them - if not, it hasn't been bad because they have banked a win where there are few chances.

Why? Because they won again?
Today's finish was an absolute failure by the sprinters' teams to take control and bring the race back together for the finish. Jumbo wasn't trying to win the stage, and had no reason to reel in the break. All they needed to do was keep Jonas safe. The other teams allowed Jumbo to sit on the front and dictate the pace for most of the closing Ks. The few efforts by the other teams were unorganized and mediocre. Today's win was a savvy move by a veteran who recognized an opportunity that played to his strengths, and his gamble paid off.

thanks. I've come to a conclusion that it's completely random which feed you get, probably all depending upon technical capacity at the site, I'm guessing.

I generally pull for Quckstep, I’m thrilled for Fabio’s win in a sprint stage but overall the were horrible this tour. It’s not like they weren’t aware of this years challenges.

You can bet that WVA will be looking to win in Paris again, but his lack of elite top-end speed compared with Jako and Phillipsen is going to make it difficult. That said, Jumbo may have the horsepower to deliver him in an advantageous situation. My pick: Phillipsen.

Wout is doing some wild sh*t!
I hope Simmons gets super combative. I would have liked to seen him wait on today's stage 19 until that 35k mark when the attacks flew. Philipsen was incredible today - he put himself in a bad spot but finished second.

Okay, we have our favourites.
BUT ... Jumbo are not like US Postal and Sky controlling everything until the last 500m in the mountains ( = boring ). Jumbo have two great cyclists signed up. Van Aert has been fantastic at throwing out seemingly stupid efforts that actually produce results. Jumbo have really given us one of the best Tours de France for 30 years.

One thing I have noticed... The gaps betwwen 1st and 5th or 1st and 10th in this years tour are huge compared to previous years. Almost superhuman like compared to the past 10 years.
By far the biggest gaps in many years are this years tours. I hope this is legit and not doped. But this kind of smells and not just with GC either by Jumbo-Visma
2022, 5th +16:37, 10th 25:43
2021, 5th +10:13 10th +18:34
2020, 5th +6:07 10th +14:03
2019, 5th +4:05, 10th +7:32

2016, 5th +5:17, 10th +7:11
2015, 5th +9:48, 10th +17:30
2014, 5th +11:25, 10th +21:15

Or, losers are getting sore.
There are thousands of perfectly legal supplements, my guess is their nutritionist is as much on game as every other aspect of the team we have seen. Jonas also mentioned their wind tunnel efforts when asked about doping so he feels that is a factor.

Morkov has been a leadout magician in the past. His absence may be a big factor in what we've seen from QS. Jakobsen is undoubtedly very fast, but he seems to be missing the scrappiness found in most top sprinters who can find their way to the front, even without a teammate to guide them. I thought Ewen was one of those guys, but he hasn't even had a sniff at a top finish, and Lotto hasn't shown much for leadout support.
You can bet that WVA will be looking to win in Paris again, but his lack of elite top-end speed compared with Jako and Phillipsen is going to make it difficult. That said, Jumbo may have the horsepower to deliver him in an advantageous situation. My pick: Phillipsen.

Pretty bummed that it's over. The last 3 weeks have been awesome. Really hope there is no doping to stain the event. Regardless it was fun to watch every single stage.
Ready for the next event already.

This year they knew it would be tough and that there would only be 2 or 3 realistic chances. They took advantage of an early opportunity and won. They lost their key lead-out man. After the mountains, Fabio was wrecked. It was incredible that he was still in the race and not collected by the broom wagon - the pace on those mountain days was killing the sprinters.
Fabio told his team he couldn't compete on the flat stage before the TT, he had no legs, needed to recover and aim for the final day. They stood down for him. In the end, his chain dropped and he didn't get to contest the last sprint of the Tour. Bad luck, the fastest Tour, one of the hardest overall and terrain unkind to sprinters. I don't think they did horribly at all when we really look at what happened. They are essentially a Classics team that does well in Tours with obvious sprint stages and when things go well for them. This years TDF was not that.
