I was looking for a set of brakes that could replace the too short Dura-Ace rear calipers the Olympia Sport I am refurbishing came with, and could also be combined with the cute little Dia Compe rack I had acquired. Lots of searching, cleaning, sorting, followed by indecisiveness. Finally settled on the tried and trusted Weinmann 610 / 750 combo:

Let my bro-in-law know that his given-to-him-free-by-a-neighbor Panasonic Tourist 5 has been gone over and is ready for his bride to ride. They're hoping this upright bike will be gentler on her bad back than her current ride.

Well, they weren't that organized until a couple of days ago ...

I like to visit swap meets and jumbles, and to make those trips worthwhile I tend to buy stuff I like as long as it's cheap, thinking I will want to use those parts some day. So far I haven't disappointed myself.

Scanned some of the Koga-Miyata brochures that were unavailable online, mostly the missing technical brochures that show the geometry, specs and prices.
I came into possesion of the whole stack recently through a Dutch member of a different forum who collected them. I will continue making high-res scans and hosting them through my Onedrive.

I scanned a couple of the regular brochures already and judge for yourself. Here is the quality difference between my (uncompressed) scan and the Koga one. I certainly appreciate Koga hosting their old brochures online but it's definitely a compromise. I will notify them soon to ask if they are interested in the high-res scans for their website.

I am pretty sure that the model is XLC City/Trekking HB C12. I don't remember where I bought them - probably Nashbar or Amazon commuter bike shop.

While in VA for work last week, I picked up this Schwinn World Sport for my wife. I really need to stay off Craigslist. Anyway, this morning, I swapped the original drop bars for a flat bar off a Trek 830 I got dumpster diving at the LBS. It was $70 and came with new brake cables/housings/pads, Cateye mity 8, Sakae cranks/pedals? and Shimano light action shifting (shifts really well)

Ordered some parts to finally fix up the Gazelle Grand Tourist that has been hanging in my shed for ages. In my case that means using the Sturmey Archer X-FDD dynohub and RX-RD5 5-speed hub and building them into new wheels.
Gold frame, black rims and cream tyres should make for a good looking bike but not sure I will get out of it what I spent on it. Doesn't matter. I need some space in the shed and the bike hasn't been used in ages because it is too small for me.
Let's hope I can make someone happy with it.

I opted for black rims because I really like that look on the Pashley Guv'nor, though this is a slightly heavier bike than that. Silver would have been an option too but in this case I think that would have been too bland.
Not sure if I want to keep the front rack on or remove it and if I want to use blue or black brake/shifter cables again.

Here is the bike as it was in its Sturmey Archer AW + 2 cog derailleur configuration, last time I worked on it.

Lots of pictures and measurements, rack to stem is 24cm, bottom of bag to mounting l leather is 24cm so I can't tuck the bag under the stem like I could the old one so I'm going to need to push the bag forward a minimum of 30mm to give me finger room. That means a new decaleur and it has to me made because the faceplate bolts are 24 mm wide vs the 27-30 for most modern stems, I'm also going make some adjustments to the rack since the bag is going to be pushed forward. The alternative is go back to a threaded setup and buy a Nitto or Rene Herse (probably Nitto) and run my other bars which isn't appealing since I don't like the look and I'll have to move some other cockpit stuff.

I've got a number of bikes spread around my small flat, and a number of spare wheels, and even some stashed under my bed, so it was easy to lose track of exactly how many I had. I've had a few custom builds but most of them are second hand from ebay, or bike forum bargains I've spotted over recent years. I do quite high mileage in all weathers so it's always useful to have spares.

I was asked recently how many wheels I had, and not knowing the answer off the top of my head, I knew the answer was probably too many. I had a day off work today, and it was raining this morning, so I thought I'd do a wheel audit and take all the wheels off all my bikes, and gather them all together including any that need any repairs, so I could do a full head count and see how, almost unnoticed, the situation has escalated. Suffice to say the spare room is now more of a spares room

I have 2 single speed bikes, one bike with an old school 7 speed drive train, but all my other road bikes are old steel frames with more modern Campagnolo 10 speed drive trains, so all Campagnolo 9/10/11 speed compatible, and interchangeable. Not included here is 1 pair of MTB wheels on, you guessed it, my MTB

Well, all I can say is wheels sure do roll up on you quietly, and seen like this I found the results quite alarming.

When I get back I think I probably need to book myself in for some therapy, or ask eBay to change my password and not tell me

Rode over to the buyer's place for beers and to see his collection. Had a beautiful Jack Taylor and an incredibly light Erickson. I feel good about my old Paramount taking its rightful place in his lineup. It's so reassuring in the balance of the universe when selling a bike to also make a new friend that's into c&v, riding, and like-mindedness.
