Haro Alpha ATB

Hi All! Looking for a rough year of manufacture on this Haro with no model name. I'm unable to find a ser# anywhere on the bike, nor date codes on the derailleurs. My guess, is a late 90's early 2k. It has Joytech hubs

I'll be cleaning/lubing the shifters, then off it goes.
Thank you for any feedback!!

Shimano Exage Country would be 1989 but 500LX wasn't introduced until 1990 and the derailleur exhibits a May 1990 date code. Rear derailleurs are a common replacement item but I see that it also has period correct RapidFire shift levers, so I'm assuming the brakes were excess stock and that the 500LX is OEM. Given the date code on the derailleur, it might even be a 1991 model. In 1990 Haro was being distributed by West Coast Cycle Supply and my price list does not show and Alpha. In 1991, Haro set up their own distribution and the product list shows an Alpha with Shimano 500LX for $380 US, so it would appear to be a 1991 model. FYI, the presence of 700C rims would classify this as a Hybrid style bicycle, as opposed to an ATB.

Seven-speed triggers, cantis ==> long before the turn of the century. A 21st-C bike of this kind would have 8 speeds, probably grip-shifters and V-brakes. Actually, your shot of the RD clearly shows a date code of OE, which translates to May 1990. Exage Country was huge around that time. The 500LX RD is probably an upgrade.

Headlight bracket is Cateye, ca. 1990s.

Wow, fantastic T-Mar, thank you!! Wish I had realized the OE was a date code. Always appreciate your wealth of knowledge!
