Airless tires have been a standard on Mobike share bikes in China. These bikes have been klutzy and whether you had pneumatic or airless tire might be hard to notice. I think these tires would be OK on a folder meant for occasional use with short rides, however they would likely become a hassle in more extended use with longer rides.

Special situation: specifics will vary, but packing a bike (any bike, not specifically folders), deflating tires can result in an easier fit. With airless tires, this option is lost. Depending on your situation, this may be irrelevant.

More difficult fitting. Harsher ride. Higher rolling resistance.

Tannus makes a tyre insert; it goes in the tyre and you fit a slim inner tube (like road tyre size) so that the insert take care of most puncture while the inner tube deals with the comfort.

i m going to try them on my gravel bike because thorn ps are annoying…

Tannus airless tire review

“Save your money” Do not buy the Tannus airless solid foam tires. The tires are awesome at providing flat resistance, but they are approximately 30% slower than normal rubber tires and tubes. Here’s the kicker, they barely absorb shock and it feels like you are riding on the rims and after a 30-40 mile ride your neck and hands are numb from the lack of shock absorption. Tannus says ride them for 100 miles and they will soften up. Not true, I used them for 6 months and no change. My remedy, I have had to remove the Tannus tire and go to a heavy duty all condition tire for flat protection.

If puncture protection is the first priority, Schwalbe Marathon Plus could be a good solution to airless tires.
