shipping multiple bicycles cross country?

moving the family out to portland from NYC in the near future. thinking of using those shipping cubes and heard they're banged around quite a bit in transit. anyone like a specific shipping method for say 4 - 5 bicycles?

it's a little off topic but if anybody has had a good experience with a cross country moving company - please feel free to make any suggestions.

thank you in advance!

When I move from NY to Cali few years ago , I went to my LBS and got boxes from them which new bikes came in . With the packing materials which were all free . . I pack the bikes (I had 8 to pack ) , gave them to the moving company with everything else we had them moved . We use United / Mayflower moving company for the move . The bikes and everything else arrived without a problem . You don't want the moving company to pack the bikes for you , they don't do it right and can and will hurt the bikes .
