PSA - Stein Tool Stronglight Dust Caps/Extractor

These aren't on the website, but Jim Stein at Stein Tool is making Stronglight Dust Caps/Extractor bolts to replace the OEM parts on your vintage Stronglight cranks. Not cheap at $40 a pair, but Jim makes good stuff. Caps are available in either stainless steel or aluminum, same price. Extractor bolt is 8mm allen wrench, rather than 14mm original bolt. I have a pair of stainless steel on the way, which he was just finishing up on yesterday. Email him if you're interested.

Glad those will be available. I got mine a few years ago from Amir Avitzur in Israel but I don't think he was going into production or trying to sell them. I may be wrong, that was just the impression I got.

Like everything Amir does, they are very polished and fit perfectly.

The extra doodad in the round can is a tool for installing the ring, though of course a generic pin spanner will do the job.

FYI the original bolts for cranks with 23.35 mm extractors were 16 mm, not 14 mm. Big enough that even with the "oversized" extractor thread, you still needed a fairly thin-wall socket. Of course it's not as bad as Zeus, who for some reason went with 16 mm bolts and a 22 mm extractor, making a super tight fit for the wrench.
