Gios Torino Aerodynamic Value

Seeking advice on value. I have a stock, except for the tires, Gios Torino Aerodynamic. The bike has been stored inside. Originally maintained by Nelo's Bike Shop in Austin Texas but rarely ridden. The bike is in good shape but will need new stickers and bar tape if one was to fully restore. I can provide photos (but not here until I have posted 10X). I have an extra rear cassette. Thanks in advance for and advice or leads. Ready to build up a new gravel bike.

In 1981 the Aerodynamic model was introduced. Among the Gios models of the 80s the Aerodynamic is quite rare, produced in about 200 specimens.

Features of the Aerodynamic model are some solutions used to make the bike more "aero": Columbus "Air" pipes, gearshift levers above the down tube, fork with aerodynamic head. The model is characterized by the "GIOS Torino" bands with the inscription on a metallic gray background and not on a white background.
Iwob - Gios Aerodynamic
... had not heard of this particular Gios model before, so I looked it up. Apparently, not many were made before they moved on to other stylings like the Compact.
All Gios bikes sold locally on the NorCal Craigslist usually ask prices in th $800-$900 range, if in reasonable shape, which yours is.

They are gofast bikes, for the most part, so yours looks a little bit downhearted wearing those Schwalbe tyres.

I'm trying to remember what I paid for my Gios Compact, (that was in much less pristine condition), locally in Sacramento, and I keep thinking in the 500-600 dollar range. But I had to do a lot of work on it, and I built new wheels.

If it has been stored a long time, without being ridden or serviced, there might be some routine bearing maintenance that needs to happen. But I'd be surprised if it wouldn't fetch $800-900 from the right buyer, even with those tyres on it. It will never go as fast as it wants to go wearing those.

Gios are underrated by the market. $850, which is about the midpoint of the range mentioned earlier is probably market.
What holds this one back, is the pump (style points) and tires, also style points. Gumwalls, tan, preferred.
The handlebar tape should be white. I would trim off the last 12-15mm of the bars too, no one rides that far back on a race bike.
There is wear of some sort on the panels adjacent to the Brand names on the down and seat tubes.
The aerodynamic had profiled fork blades and seat stays. So, slightly more aero.

Also, the bike while in reasonable shape, says image wise, I need a full driveline clean and bearing service.
The pedals are practical, but not "race".

Agree with the majority of the comments about the aesthetics, the price however may be a bit low in my estimation....I have only seen 2 of these and they were both on this forum. Gios has a cult following and even if a transition to the Compact model a 900 to 1100 might be inline....of course that is after you change the tires etc.
Best, Ben

Those wheels look like they have some miles on them

Thanks. This is helpful. I know the tires are not period but I put Shwalbe tires on most of my bikes. Not a fan of repairing flats out on the road and these are bombproof tires.

Might be an optimistic price but who knows there is a really rough one for sale by a forum member in NYC right now....it was posted in a thread a while back in as found condition.
