Dura-Ace WH-7801 DI rear hub - how do I remove nipples/spokes?
Rear rim went bad on my WH-7801 DI wheelset. How do I remove nipple/spokes on right side of rear hub?
Nipples seem to be behind a seal ring, which I don't know how to remove without destroying it.
Any advice/experiences?

I would guess once the nipple is removed from the spoke, it'll tilt out?

Have you tried taking off the free hub? But I'm just guessing. Maybe someone with wheel building experience on those hubs will be around soon.

It's been awhile since i serviced one of these, but to remove a DS spoke nipple, the FH body should be removed.
The DS axle end nut should have a 5mm allen key recess. I seem to remember it being revers threaded, so turn the
DS allen key CW to remove it. I think the NDS axle end nut also has the 5mm allen key recess so you can use one 5mm
allen wrench to hold the NDS end nut and the second 5mm allen wrench to remove the DS axle end nut and slide off the
FH body. Hope this helps. This FH body is also unique and is not interchangeable with other shimano FH bodies.

If you don't want to take apart the hub then the spokes should unscrew from the nipples. It doesn't look like fun. I have trued shimano hubs like that before and they are a pain, because I am used to working on nipples in the rim.

Tried to unlock the left hand lock nut unit, but no luck so far...maybe not even needed.
Might have to leave it as is...see pics.

If you push the nipple ends in toward the hub (working around it) can you'"lever out" the ring?
Maybe push on opposite pairs?

The ring appears to have small notches in it. A small screwdriver might allow you to pry it out.
I'm afraid you have bought one of shimano's mistakes. That style only lasted a couple of years. Moving the drive side bearings in board negates the original reason for the freehub.

Take out the inner seal ring (no. 13 on the sketch). Be careful with it. I doubt that you will be able to get a spare. Then you might be able to get a small screw driver behind the ring and pry it out.
