This has been the "every day" scene here on the Madison Isthmus the last 10 days or so.
This is my street, about three blocks down. Lakes on either side of the isthmus are at record levels, and the storm drains are at the level of the river that runs between them. This puts some streets under water. And it's still raining. Levels have been going up and down by 3-6 inches, based on how much it rains, and how much water they allow to run from one lake to the other. We're sandbagged in, backflow valve in place, sump pump at the ready, but still hoping for the best. Between this and the construction, my commute changes on a daily basis.
Red sky at night, we deserve some delight

True dat; our flood situation is cake compared to what y'all are living through. Excellent pic, BTW, with the sign and the vanishing point and all. One tall bike!

I liked this bike shop's 'store front'.
It's in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
I snapped pic while on vacation last month riding along bike path nearby on a rental bike.

I have snapped pics of quite a few of my bikes with the longhorns near the Dallas, Texas Convention Center.
It's on one of my regular routes when I'm up for doing about a 40 mile loop around the city.

Back to fall sports with my two 9th grade daughters. It keeps us young. One loves being a setter in volleyball and the other plays some serious lockdown defense on the varsity soccer team.

I may have shown this vista before. I shot it again on Sunday after our tandem ride. I'm standing in the road with our house to the left. The road runs through our property through an easement, so both barns on the sides of the road are ours.

Retirement Party?
Well... sort of. Today I am retiring my faithful "old" Leica D-Lux typ 109. It has been a wonderful camera for the four years I've owned it, but it's seen a lot of wear and tear over that time.
The coup de grace came when I crashed my Peugeot Canyon Express into the rocks down by the Mississippi river, with the Leica strapped diagonally across my chest.
While the crash broke my wrist and bruised my ribs, the camera escaped with only a gouge in the bamboo hand-hold and a ding in the aperture ring on the lens.
Although it still seems to work, the images are not as sharp as they once were. And besides, my girls have bought me a D-Lux 7 for Christmas.
So "Old 109" is going up on the shelf next to my old Pentax K1000, Canon A1, and Nikon F3. Here are a few highlights from this camera's short career, with apologies for any I may have used here in the past:
Number Seven's debut will be delayed a bit, because none of the photo processing software out there supports the new, proprietary .RWL files it shoots yet.
But it is the middle of winter, the ugly season here in the frozen north, so I'm not missing anything while I wait.
