Addiction 2022.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

One of the guys I rode with last night has tested positive this morning for covid. His wife is negative, which is good. She has a compromised immune system. I betting the new omicron varient. He says it just felt like his seasonal allergy starting up. So now what? Have I been exposed? I was only in the paceline with him for an hour maybe. Then I busted my chain and limped it back to the parking lot alone.

I did the same thing. There was a tag sewn on the sleeve and like a 13 year old idiot, I slipped the scissors under the tag and cut four small places. My mother was livid.

My mother WOULD HAVE BEEN livid had I told her. And trust me, that woman could do livid. To a turn.

I wouldn’t worry about it until you have to.

Put "censor" AND "filter" in the filter.

Hell, just start filtering a bunch of random words, just for ***** and giggles!

Daughter #1 graduates on Sunday. I don’t think I can say her graduation status because of the filter. Let’s see. *** laude.

If you feel like you're coming down with a cold in 3-5 days, you'll know. Till then, I'd just be a bit more cautious than usual.

See, I KNEW there was a reason to ride alone. I mean, apart from the usual misanthropy.

Seriously. It's amazing how much angst the censor causes to grown ups.

I have a better idea. Compile a long list of random words, and filter them on a rotating basis.

What I want to know is, who was dumb enough to buy in at the indicated point? Or, "Never try to catch a falling knife."

It really does rub my fur the wrong way. Perhaps I should seek professional help.

I get that... but getting the occasional booster seems like the easiest, least exhausting mitigation. I'm fine with masks, but the booster is easier than a mask. It's easier than distancing. It's easier than not flying. Many of us just got flu shots every year anyway; this isn't really different. At least, to me.

Beginning to think I might be lubing my chain wrong. After cleaning the chain spotless using a pain brush and and a degreaser I then apply my lube to each and every chain link. I run the chain backwards a couple of rotations and then I wipe away access. In the past I would just run the chain through a cloth, but that always seemed to leave to much, so I started to rub the towel over the links. This would leave them clean to the touch.

So I rode the cervelo 2 days in the rain. After each ride I wiped the bike completely down and wiped the chain down.

I was just inspecting the bike for tomorrow and noticed a small amount of rust on my chain. I ran my hand over the chain and nothing came off, seemed completly dry.

I checked my other bikes which I have cleaned and lubed the same way and they were all completely dry as well. Nothing comes off on my finger.

I think when I wipe away access I am wiping a little too aggressively and taking away a little too much lube.

Thoughts?
