Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

At the same time, I want to get stuff done today, so do I just hop on the trainer now and get the exercise out of the way, or do I work on stuff now and wait for a potential outdoor ride after the warm-up?

Shoulder season dilemmas...
A friend of mine (Kevin Martin) declared that he won't ride outside if the temperature is below is age. For myself, the K-Mart Line is currently 53. I'm not a fan of riding below that line, but I will do it on rare occasion.

My headset feels loose when I am on the trainer but when I take it off and do the break test I don’t feel anything.

Only feels loose when I am cranking out massive amount of Watts. MASSIVE.

Ride was chilly but joyous. It was a couple degrees below freezing for the first hour or so. The sun was bright and a good time had by all.

datlas does not count calories or g of protein. I just eat healthy food and no flesh. And lots of chocolate.

My record for cold riding is about 5F. I would not repeat that or recommend it.

That said, I am very happy riding in the 20’s if roads are dry and the sun is out.

must not be raining in your Dallas…….

Weather turned me off, heading to Mellow Johnies Now, wife gave me the okay to buy stuff, and then I plan on doing intervals and then a longer ride on zwift.

One thing I don’t get about zwift. I’ll keep an average speed of let’s say 18 but yet an hour later i’ve only gone like 12 miles. I know the last two days i’ve done a lot of climbing but it just seems off to me.

Also my load seems way off on intervals.

with that being said I don’t have a fan, so I have not been pushing it too much. I have the ac on 58 and I over heat relatively quickly.

Raining and cold down here, just miserable.

No that's not it. I'm looking for suggestions to break out of old eating habits for awhile.

I look at the above and can only assume shockingly low activity levels. Even though my activity has tapered off significantly over the last four weeks, I'm still averaging ~3500 calories burned per day.
My question is how do *I* approach 2600 cals/day. We can't compare you and I activity-wise or metabolism-wise, you're 30 years younger than me.

What you can do is tell me what quality foods you're eating to achieve 3500 cals/day.

Not this. Though, Halloween is a cheat week for me. Thank heavens this isn't a rest week anymore.

How do you sit on a bike with that type of stuff passing through? Sounds painful.

You might want to consult with a doctor about that issue. It doesn't sound like a good thing.

If I did that, I'd have a hell of a time around here. But I'd save on arm warmers and long sleeve jerseys.

You need a fan. Fans are cheap. But don't go too small.

Did I mention you need a fan? Seriously - I manage to heat up a 16'x16'x8' garage by a couple degrees in the course of an hour's ride. WITH FANS.

I ended up splitting my day with the ride - it was in the mid/high 30s and dry enough that it was enjoyable. Limiting myself to only riding outside at 45° or higher would drive me truly bonkers.
