Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Uhhhh... Hopefully whatever is compatible with my bike! I'm a noob when it comes to bikes in general, but especially parts compatibility.

Al's is a chain of three stores in the western US, if that's any indication.*shrug*

No code needed. Just order on Monday.
I had Boyd wheels on my other bike (sold) and as soon as I got my new bike, I ordered up a set (went from rim brake to disc, so a swap wasn't going to work).

Shimano BR-5800 road rim brake caliper set for $50: Shimano 105 BR-5800 Caliper Brake Set (the-house.com)

$10 shipping, but first time buyer code DF15NM15 gets you 15% off. Otherwise, Microsoft Edge can find you a 10% off code.

The same brakes on my road bike are due for an overhaul, so I bought a spare set in case I somehow screw that up.

Thanks- Ill look into this offer and compare because I could use a set for a 90s Cannondale I repainted and am building up.

As for you needing to overhaul your current 5800 brakes- I really cant imagine a scenario where you would need another set of brakes as a result of overhauling the current brakes. Just swap the pads and possibly the cable/housing if its jacked up.

I am also (very slowly) building up a Cannondale, a 2000 CAAD4, but with a newer 105 R7000 groupset.

Not just replacing the wear parts. The overhaul involves disassembling the calipers themselves for deep cleaning and regreasing the bearings.

Enve Ti QR skewers for $72, free shipping:

Enve Ti Skewers 100/130mm | Road Bike Skewers | ENVE Composites | ColoradoCyclist.com

According to the website below they are made by Mavic:

ENVE Titanium Skewers - Fair Wheel Bikes

That would be great, I love the set that came with my Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels. The Ultegra skewers have an excellent cam mechanism but their offset levers make the rear one harder to position, and they weigh 31 g over the Enve ones.

I have those on my Neil Pryde bike and they are great. Best of the lightweight skewers, as you can actually get them very tight. Most other aftermarket skewers (like the others being sold by Fair Wheel Bikes) are flimsy and don't get tight on the bike...

The Enve skewers (front: 43 g; rear: 46 g) close nice and tight just like my Mavic ones, but the Mavic skewers have sleeker levers and nuts.

Yeah, the skewers that came with the FFWD wheels are not good, so I bought an Ultegra 6800 pair, but while those close even firmer, they are heavy (front: 58 g; rear: 63 g) and hard to position due to their off-center levers.

WWW.somafabshop.com is having a frame, frame/set sale, 30% off all in stock. The knocks the latest Smoothie frame down to $805. I have been looking at the Buena Vista, only white, rim brake available in my size, sale price $630. So far, I have stuck to my no purchase policy.

Free postage from Planet X on orders over £30 this weekend with the code KIND2023
They have great prices, but the shipping to the US has been so high that it offset that. Free shipping means bargains.

For example: Fulcrum 900 wheels for $84! These are nice training/rain/commuter wheels.
Jobsworth Torque Wrench for $23
etc
