can't drive into the parking lot at Great Meadows off Monsen Rd., Concord. the lot is closed

did not see anyone crossing 62 by bike or on foot from the RBT

but the snow is not deep. I imagine it would be passable, if someone had the notion ...

Haha, no thanks, spent most of yesterday making sure to "lift with my knees" as I was clearing 8 inches of wet stuff by hand. Old B.O.B. would not have been up to it, I never even tried.

Our house has sprouted bump-outs on all four sides in its nearly 160 years, and three of those roofs need raking after a storm like this, so it was an upper-body workout, as well.

I had a small nosebleed yesterday morning & then in the evening when the precip was winding down I shoveled a little even tho I'm in a condo & developed a more severe nosebleed that took several hours to control
no bikey-bike for me

I used to rake our condo roof but have been slacking off the past few years & now the condo police have a strict rule of no roof-raking. tough to negotiate with a condo board & management company. but I've been out there & you have my sympathy!

It's alright, we've had far worse, and out in the Berkshires they got far worse out of this one. I saw some pictures from an acquaintance out there, including one of a steel transmission tower that just buckled under the weight.

Thursday I had, or thought I had, a couple of hours in the mid-afternoon, so I rode the Sam Hillborne out to Depot Park and back. "You are here."

The vernal pools that looked so dry during last year's drought are pooling nicely again.

Trees were down everywhere I looked. This one looked a bit like a whale skeleton I once saw in a museum.

The horses looked like themselves, and looked calm, in the way horses can, basking in the sunny afternoon.

Meanwhile, in my neighbor's front yard, the crocuses are blooming. Must be Spring....

Got out for a ride to Depot Park this afternoon. It gave me an opportunity to try out a gift I recently received: an action camera.

Here it is mounted on the bike, using a bracket I got from AliExpress:

I had some fun taking both stills and movies on the go. Here's a snapshot of some activity on the MM:

I tried out time lapse mode. This is coming back from the Depot:

I'm still playing around with it, getting used to the modes and the resolutions, as well as what Bike Forums will accept for file types and size.

On the way back I saw a distinguished gentleman on a black Hilborne, going westbound near Arlington HS about 2:40pm.
Unfortunately I wasn't recording video at the time.
rholland1951 , was that you?

Hopped on the Sam Hillborne Friday afternoon and rode out to Depot Park again. My legs and lungs are enjoying the miles, and I'm getting used to the Sam.

The beauty of this little bridge in Lexington is accented by the augmented flow of water. Any water that could flow, flowed today.

Something was flowing at this Saint Patrick's Day party, but perhaps not water specifically.

Saturday afternoon, I took the Sam Hillborne and rode East.

This was yet another installment of my hills-and-traffic drill through Arlington, Medford, Malden, Melrose, and Stoneham. The emphasis today was on climbing and descending techniques on the Sam, which climbs willingly and feels stable when barreling down a hill. The long wheelbase--longer than the Surly touring bikes, btw--makes for an interesting time of it. The 38mm Barlow Pass Extralights rolled smoothly over the occasional bits of deferred pavement maintenance that were encountered along the way. Towards the end of the ride, Eastern Daylight Time worked like a champ to keep things sunny.

Looks like a lot of fun with the new cam. Is that a remote for the camera strapped to your stem?

Yes, that is a remote. The red button takes a still photo, the white button starts and stops videos. With a few caveats, you can switch modes on the fly.

I'm looking forward to using the camera, without letting it distract from the actual fun of riding (considering that a main point of riding is distraction from everything else...)

I spent early Monday afternoon installing bottle cages, a saddlebag, lights, and a Crane Suzu bell (LOUD) on the Nobilette, then took it for a shakedown spin on the Minuteman.

This bike is a bit of an outlier, built by a master frame builder in the early 90s, with a Columbus TSX tubeset that was state of the art for 15 minutes or so. Jim and Pete at Battle Road Bikes did a great job turning the bare frameset into a bicycle that is very willing, and very agile. It went like a bat out of hell, which would have been even more welcome if I weren't busy being dazzled by the low sun on the outbound run.

The return was faster and shadier. I'm looking forward to getting to know this bike, now that the road salt season has largely passed.

I finally got back on a bike after over a month of snow break today. I probably could have gotten one last technically-winter ride in yesterday, but word on Facebook was that the BFRT north of Acton was still dotted with icy patches, and I was in no mood to stay entirely on roads that are at their seasonally worst right now. It's been a lot of plow passes since my last outing!

I grabbed the Bianchi at around 2pm and headed off on my familiar route to the BFRT at High St, and from there to H[e]art Pond. The trail was almost completely clear and dry, and pretty popular. It was windy but not too bad at all. I found the pond completely ice-free and was surprised to see two kayaks way off on the choppy water. One looked like a fishing rig, the other was clearly more of a fun & exercise craft, hugging the wooded shore so as not to be blown clear across. Very likely a first tentative outing, as well. I mentally saluted the kindred spirit and continued on my earth-borne way. Homeward via Hunt Road rather than the BFRT, a little apprehensive as my traffic reflexes felt dulled by the month-long break, but there were few cars, and no major potholes. 7.8 miles and 357 vertical feet.

I managed to wedge another short bike ride into a busy afternoon schedule today (Tuesday), this time taking the Nobilette out the Mystic Valley Parkway to the Mystic Lakes. There was absolutely nothing happening at the Mystic Lakes, but there were a fair number of cyclists tooling along the Parkway. And the Nobilette gave me my fastest average speed since November. That horse wants to run, I think.

yesterday or the day before those looked minor & passable. at least as they looked from the road crossings as I sped by ;-)
today I saw no signs of that, but there was debris scattered across the trails

My left knee has been bothering me since I rode last Friday. Truthfully, it was bothering me before that ride, but I went anyway. After a few days rest, it was feeling better today, so I got out on the bike. As a precaution, I wore a compression type knee brace. I also got back in the habit of stretching at every rest stop, which I had slacked off on. I had an enjoyable trek out to Depot Park, and so far the knee is feeling OK.

Just made the light outbound at Route 60:
(the timestamps are wrong in all these photos, somehow the camera's clock got off)

A pooch in the road:

About to go over 128:

Just a bit of dirty snow left at Bedford:

Colorful ceiling decorations at the Lexington Depot:

All-in-all a good ride. It has been great to do so much biking with temps in the 40s so many days this winter, but I ready now to shed some layers. Looking forward to higher temps and less wind.

The Green Line tracks in Cleveland Circle gave me another pinch flat the other day (the MBTA continues to cause delays). Makes me consider going tubeless in the future, but if I rode around Boston with low, tubeless level air pressures – 75, 80psi or so – I'd probably just wind up with a bunch of dented rims instead of pinch flats.

Smooth rolling today, did not feel in a rush to get anywhere.

my GoPro doesn't keep date/time now because I never keep a battery in it. it must have a built in memory & battery of some kind so when you change batteries it doesn't get reset
but if you never keep the battery in the camera, you lose that data. all photos wind up w/ the same date & time. I can only judge their order by their numerical file name. I used to sort by date & time, but I can't now
the reason I take my battery out, is because it lasts longer. meaning, I don't have to charge it before I use it. if I leave it in, it won't have a full charge when I use it
does that make sense? just had a cpl drinks after some car shopping

Glad you like the pics!
I agree with your explanation about the camera date/time and leaving the battery out for an extended period. That is exactly what I did over the past few days. The camera (in this case an Akaso) can maintain the settings and clock with the battery out, but the clock stops running if the battery is out for long (or possibly it stops as soon as you take the battery out - not sure) I tried something different after today's ride: I charged the battery in the camera instead of using the charging cradle. I will have to see how the charge holds up now that I disconnected the power cable. My camera actually came with two batteries, so I can always keep one in the camera and one out.

Good luck with the car shopping - that can definitely induce the need for a drink or two, especially in the current market.

Continuing to have an unreasonable amount of fun on the Nobilette and still very much learning the ropes with it, as well as stress-testing the build. I managed to displace the rear wheel in the dropout by applying a lot of torque while climbing a steep ramp in the Battle Road Bikes parking lot, a sort of mishap I haven't had since climbing abandoned Blood Road in Groton, on the LHT, many years ago. This is a good thing to do just steps away from your bike mechanics, as opposed to out in the woods. In any event, they diagnosed the problem and fixed it right up. I'll bring it back in tomorrow, for a little more tinkering and to swap the 26mm Cayuse Pass Extralights for a pair of 28mm Chinook Pass Extralights. It will be interesting to see if the 2mm delta in tire width will make any practical or perceptible difference; the 26mm tires are rolling surprisingly well..

After the stop at Battle Road Bikes, I continued on to Depot Park, cranking away without cease, except for taking one photo at the turnaround point, "pictures or it didn't happen". Made good-for-me time, in fact, surprisingly so. I blame the bike, or perhaps my enthusiasm for it. But I'm definitely faster on pavement with this bike, or so the clock says.
