A Funny Dog & Bicycling Meme

We've all had scary run-ins with dogs, but this meme made me laugh, so I thought you guys would appreciate it. Enjoy!

You could easily fix all this by adding the word "not" to the beginning of the thread title.

I used to run about 3-5 mile a day with my black lab mix. On days I didn’t have time to run with her, I would take her for a run next to my bike. She was in pretty fantastic shape, but I was amazed when I took her out one day to see her top speed. She momentarily hit 26 MPH on a dead level street according to my computer.

Can’t imagine running into a dog with malice that can hit that speed even momentarily if they are on your back wheel. Luckily I can still do a bit better than that, but not a whole lot.

Did escape a dog last summer that was after me, when I was cruising at 18 and heard the clicking of his claws on the asphalt. Got out of the saddle and hammered as the dog faded away.

My neighbor's dog was aggressive and hostile from the day they got it, despite repeated efforts to let it get used to me when I was on foot and the "owner" was outside. I have a long downhill run from main road to my driveway, that goes by their house. I hit 20mph by their house, 30mph shortly thereafter, and have to brake hard after that to turn into my driveway.

He chased me one day. That dog was all over me at 20mph, and still with me at 30+mph when a car coming up the hill came between us and the dog was dissuaded. I left a message on owners voice mail, said I'd be calling animal control next time I was harassed by their dog. They have kept him tethered ever since, thankfully. As I said in my voice mail, "that dog is fast!"

Dog Journal: Finally got to race bike-guy. Stoopid car got in the way before I hit top speed. Bike-guy said something to my hoomans and they tied me up. I think he's scared to race me becuz he knows I'm faster.

At my typical pace, I perform a community service for old dogs. They can amble along their property line, barking at me, and keep up just like they did when they were pups.

Yesterday was trying to find an entry point for a single track off an unfamiliar dirt road so was going slowly. All of a sudden a big male Rotty comes charging to the fence line in pursuit with a low guttural bark, bark, bark. I was so relieved he was contained because he was huge and on a mission. Not finding the trail, I really picked up my pace past the dedicated guard dog’s fence line. When he spotted me he gave chase full speed right into the corner of the chain link fence. Ouch! Dedicated but not that bright.
