Big box store, low end so possibly a generic brand. I've seen them before, maybe at Walmart, but years ago.

Looks very similar to a Kent Pomona. There are not too many dual suspension cruiser/comfort bikes out there. Also a Schwinn Midtown.

Thx for your post, i'll be looking into those Kent Pomona to find if they match. My friend and i were really amazed when we met to analize the frame, at least here in Uruguay we had never seen something similar with oversized headtube, so now we are really looking forward to discover it's procedence haha

No, that's a crack in the frame by the pivot point next to the bottom bracket. The frame is damaged.

Those are sold under the Next brand as the Next Avalon, though they were typically green/chrome. They are based of the Next/Kent LaJolla. They were also sold as an Eddie Baurer. Seem to be sold as a Schwinn Midtown and Kent Pamona or Kent Northwoods Pomona.

I actually faintly remember seeing a full suspension cruiser from the 50s built similar to this, but with a springer fork. I think it was a link somebody posted on Velospace years ago, never could find it again. It was a cantilever frame with a tank, springer fork, and I think dual rear springs built in the wheel stays, like this bike.

Definitely looks like a crack there --- paint scheme looks like an aluminum NEXT product i had for a short while before donating it to a woman who got her bike stolen

Crack isn't surprising since there is nothing to accommodate the "travel" (minute as it is) and the pivot isn't concentric with the BB. Works for good steel or Ti frames. not cheap Al.

Yeah. Of the bikes I listed, it's probably a Next Avalon. They were the most common version.

I saw it once personally, so it's ok, i'm wrong, it's cracked, thx for opening my eyes about it haha, my friend fell in love with the frame so i'm pretty sure he is going to fix it. Thx again for the info, really useful. I promise to upload photos as soon as the bike is ready to go!
