Andel cranks

Has anyone actually seen on e of these in the flesh? They are spreced on the new Masi GC and look like they might be a good option for a retro look crank that offers a wider variety of gearing..

No. I have seen them online, at competitive prices too. But I've never been able to actually buy them.

I found them in early 2020 through an ebay search and almost clicked through, but I balked. Now I can't find them. I recall that the model I wanted was a copy (or just unmarked authentic?) IRD Defiant triple.

I ordered the 46/30t 3-pin version and installed it on my Rivendell Roadini. Nice crank.

Actually it is this 3 arm that is speced on the new GC and I think the 5 arm would look better.

It looks like it's made by the same company that makes the Velo Orange and Holdsworth and IRD cranksets. In fact, I'd bet that Andel makes them for those other names. I have a Velo Orange crankset, and I was surprised to find that it is quieter and shifts better than some other cranks. I didn't know I could discern that, but I really like it even more than I expected to.

Andel also makes the All City fixed gear crank. Those are nicely made cranks that I have ridden.

I see the fixie and Herse-ish cranks on eBay (two different sellers in the UK). I sent them notes asking if they had the Nuovo Record copy.

I wonder why the square taper hole is twisted 45º compared with most cranks. I don't know if it makes a difference at all, but it's, well, different.

BlueDevil63 eBay user thecycleclinic got back to me. They don't have the Andel NR styled crank on eBay, but it is on their website:

They also have the triple IRD clone I looked for earlier this year!

It's so the boutique bike shops can tell their customers they have to buy the special expensive bottom bracket - all the others have the corners in the wrong place.

I also contacted Andel directly, asking about distributors or retailers in the US. The response:

We have some partner shop sell our products in U.S.

Maybe you can get some help from them!

RETROGRESSION
https://www.retro-gression.com/

ZINN Cycle
https://zinncycles.com/

of if you can’t find the crank you need from them, welcome contact us again !

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

Thanks and Regards!

So, it would appear there are options in the US, and direct from Andel if that doesn't work out.

That’s a nice looking crank. If you want 5 arm, Boulder Bike has the IRD at the best price I’ve seen around.

I think that is the same crank. I suspect, as someone else mentioned, that Andel (a Taiwan company) makes these cranks for a number of end sellers.

These arrived yesterday. Took more than a month. Most of that due to PostNL not being able to handle the Covid Christmas order avalanche, as they were handed over to them by Royal Mail on 12/9. Anyway, they look pretty good, and I am happy with them. Thanks again for the heads-up @nlerner!
