Trial Fitting Some Parts
LarryBSky
Hello to all,
I bought this years ago from a Forum Member along with a Trek TX 900 and thought I would share a few pictures. It is a modified track bike that had braze ons and cables added during a repaint by "Betsy". Trying to decide on a mix of Italian and Japanese components or all Campy.
I tend to have a few bikes in progress and take my time to finish them. My Bertoni is still waiting for the correct decals, chain, and better color match on the bar tape.
Best, Ben
Currently Dura-Ace Track hubs and .20 cent toptube protector and Nitto b123aa
!65 Pista Crank
Not sure....fixed or multi-gear.
Best, Ben

I remember this frame coming up for sale, and being confused at first but then impressed with the uniqueness of it all. Super cool.

Yes, a bit of an anomaly....I can't tell if it was originally made this way or not because it has been repainted (J. P. Weigle custom frames and Spray by Betsy).
Numbers on the fork match the frame and it has the correct type of fork on it from what I can ascertain....it's been discussed before and I don't want to start that again, just build and enjoy. I did find a photo that had a similar rear drop and I posted it on the "TT and why thread"....Schwinn Paramount with the same drop with a hanger, so who knows, I am not so interested that I would strip the paint off just to find out.
Pin stripping is not my forte but I will try my hand at it and white stripe the lugs, trying to get as fine a line as possible, so no ink pen etc.
I am leaning towards a multi-gear setup but I know that I will need to change the track wheels, and most likely run tubulars. The look of the Superbe brakes is appealing but I also like all vintage Italian, unfortunately, most of my campy brake calipers have a lot of rusty hardware..so maybe a combo.
Just trying to enjoy the time indoors..."PUN INTENDED"
Best, Ben

Yes, it's been a while, I am not in a rush.....My thanks go to you, when we spoke I told you they would go to a good home for good and I am living up to the promise of doing right by them.....
At the moment I am trying to decide on the color of the bar tap and component group. Having fun just pondering the possibilities and practicing my pin stripping technique.
all the best to you and your family, and I hope that you have a great New Year.
Best, Ben

Ben,
Had I known you were working on this shift lever I would have sent you the more appropriate shifter parts. Do you want to go retro on that shifter lever? Smiles, MH

Hi Ben,
I love this project, I say go nuts and do whatever feels right. Just to prove I have only a limited respect for how things are meant to be configured I bought a Stratos NJS Keirin Frame because I have a 11 speed Alfine gear hub (don't ask, but it has a 42.5mm chainline) lying about. the plan is spread the frame to 135mm and fit braze on cantilever mounts (no room for Mafac centerpull mounts) and run 23mm tires. Somehow this all makes s sense to me...

I need to build up my NJS frame, thinking the Sram omnium crank ( really wish Campagnolo would release the Ultratorque Pista) -
steel stem and bars. Won’t be NJS but should be stiff.

I have a Paramount with a mix of Dura-Ace and Campagnolo, works well, pretty happy with it.
My Paramount is also red, but darker, like the pulleys on your RD, wanted to go with blue, but didn’t look quite right, tried brown, then bailed out to black.
The blue looks really good with your red, reminds me of some 60s Ferraris I’ve seen with blue seats, the 250LM in particular.
Looks like the start of an awesome build!
