Rotting/molding tire stuck to rim bead - clean-up Suggestions?p
Taking advantage of a rainy day to do some maintenance on my Cuevas and discovered when I pulled a tire it was moldy and rotten inside and the bead had stuck to the inside of the rim. Got the tire off successfully but now trying to figure the best way to clean up inside of the rim? Assuming I will need to remove the rim tape? scrape? solvent? brush? combo?
Swapping to set of 32mm Gatorskins I got in an auction haul, surprised they fit, not by much, they have 2.5mm of clearance. We will see if I keep them this way?
Back tire was rotten/moldy
Tire stuck to inside of rim
White mold

Before getting to details, acrape/chisel the worst of it off, especially along the channel with an ice cream stick or wooden chopstick shaped to fit.
Then finish with something like a Scotchbrite sponge that ddoesn't scratch to clean it up.
It doesn't need to be beautiful, but you do want it to be smooth.

What FB said. You can also find nylon scrapers easily enough in hardware stores. e.g.

Chopstick round 2 - Scotch-Brite wand:
Twist tie so I could keep moving the fold on the pad, to get a fresh section
had a hard time getting a good pic, but clean enough
