FS: Campy Crankset 170mm - pedal thread damage

SOLD

Campy Double
170mm
I am uncertain chasing the pedal threads again will fix things.
take a look. I can add pics. Make an offer if you think you can put them to good use.
or off your just like the rings.

I was using them and didn’t have problems. But it’s far from smooth installing and removing pedals. I am not sure how I damaged them. I think they were all worn when I got them. Seems like installing pedals was already a little rough.
Questions are welcome.

I suspect someone screwed in a pedal with some boogered up (technical term) threads and caused the damage. Chasing the threads *might* give these new life since the damage looks to be in the middle of the arm but someone with more knowledge will hopefully chime in. GLWTS!

Chasing is worth a try. Helicoil or threaded insert would be the definitive fix.

Am I missing a price somewhere?

Agree with the above way more experienced folks, in my extremely limited experience, chasing from the back-side usually works great for pedal threads if the first few threads are the ones boogered up. Just make sure you use the correct handed tap so it doesn't get worse. And just be careful that the next set of pedals are going in straight. I've also very carefully filed the first thread or so where there was an issue with initial engagement tilting to the side due to a threading issue, on a crank extractor thread.

Going to chime in here, I only use chasers on something like this, taps are too sharp and often take off good material IMO.

The chaser pushes the remaining material around for filler while restoring the threads.

I use anti seize for lube and scribe the threads clean with a right angle pick before using the chaser.

I also usually "burnish" the starting threads of the pedal on the wire wheel to deburr and smooth them out so they start better.

Never had one I couldn't fix, super glue for loctite or red if you must.

I think the question of the day is what is the price? that is part of the for sale thread rules.

Triomphe Cranks

BTW, mrv , et al....

Those are Triomphe cranks not Victory.

Triomphe double cranks used 114.5mm wide 68-SS asymmetrical spindles for English BBs and 111mm wide 70-SS asymmetrical spindles for Italian BBs.

Victory double cranks used 109 mm wide symmetric spindles for both English and Italian BBs. Note, there were a few undocumented Victory triple cranksets that used longer BB spindles.
