I can’t recall off the top of my head but probably Velox. But the Ambrosio rims are a known bad actor in this regard and many have resorted to running 27” tires on them.
Besides, I’m pushing it running 32s on these rims and would like a wider rim that is suited to 35s, which I think my Schwinn can handle. 32 is a skinny tire in my world.

P.S. My thread in C&V didn't go anywhere, but I'm still interested in getting my hands on one of those Ambrosio rims for the experience.

It has been a single speed year for me as well, it started as just wanting one for the occasional trail ride and went from there. I am using 38/23 gearing on this section of the parkway. I bring that up a bit to 42/18 on the flatter sections found in the VA sections.
I was lucky enough to grab a couple of weeks last month to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway (that makes four weeks riding up there this past year) and I went up there with my Capo and my carbon Domane w/ Di2 shifting, the Domane
only got out of the van once and the Capo got ridden 6 hours a day for 14 straight days.
First one is Linn Cove viaduct, next one is Craggy on the way to Mount Mitchell, 3rd is on the way to Mount Mitchell from Craggy. I never made Mitchell, the weather was starting to go bad on me and Mitchell is no place to be when that happens. Easy to get back though, the descent from Craggy Gardens to Asheville is fairly epic, you don't do a lot of pedaling to say the least!

Single speed Track bikes draw attention and riders always try to pull up aside and race. At which point I smile at the other rider and slow down to a crawl. I like to enjoy my 20 plus mile ride everyday of the year and I'm not really going to mess that up to provide entertainment for a stranger.

I bought these old wheels about eight years ago when I decided to start riding clincher tires on my road bike. I didn’t know anything about particular types of clincher rims at the time. And they work fine other than the tire fit issue. Nice Superbe hubs that I will reuse.
