Wow. You know you live in a cycling community when there's a purpose-built parking area like that. Smart. Easy-in, easy-lock, big wide "avenues" so multiple people can be transiting (in our out), keeps the bikes clean and dry, and I'm assuming it's likely to be monitored and possibly staffed.
Where I live, a person's lucky to find a two-up bike rack out in the rain within two blocks of where one needs to park.

I wonder how they deal with things like thefts. I'm seeing a few bags left on those bikes.
Would they use some kind of a smart pass? Cameras + monitor the smart pass movement through doorways?

I am also trying to imagine where one would put a bike garage like that. Perhaps near a tram station. University?

Impressive looking. I haven't been to Holland in a while but the last time I stepped off the train in Amsterdam there was what looked like a regular parking garage filled with thousands of similar black bikes just put in side by side. Was impressive.

I usually just keep the bicycle with me whenever I go shopping. But anyplace with a garage such as this surely must respect bicyclists. <3dream<3 I wish other places would get on board.

Note that shoppers bringing their bicycle with them inside a retail establishment as theft protection method may be practical with a work staff tolerant of such a practice in combination with few people ever riding a bicycle to the store, that most definitely is not the case in Amsterdam.
