That Mercier is an attractive bike; very stylish with the chrome forks and socks and the black accents. Nice looking handlebars too.

Thank you, I think so too! Hopefully locals agree since I'm going to let this one go on the local craigslist.

Here's my 86 Miyata 100M. I converted it from drop bar to upright. I changed the cranks to Shimano 660. Swapped the brakes for Mafac Racers and added Suntour levers, thumb shifters and derailleurs.

Fuji Special Road Racer. White. Mixti frame. available at the local bike coop. Paint is marginal but the bike appears to be original and intact.

Not mine. TALL Raleigh mixte. I don't recognize the model but it looks like it might be taller than the 23" in the ad, despite the photo distortion.

https://richmond.craigslist.org/bik/...206777429.html

Woman’s Bike - $120

bicycle frame material: other/unknown
bicycle type: hybrid/comfort
frame size: 23”
wheel size: other/unknown
Raleigh Woman’s bike in good condition, shifting and brakes work fine. Large frame size is suitable for 5’7” - 5’11”.

1985 Schwinn Mirada with not a lot of original bits remaining. Around-town drop-bar dirt build.

My wife's 1974 Peugeot U08. It came to us in excellent shape. Upgraded with new cables, new saddle, alloy 700c rims, alloy stem and bars, metal Huret shifters to replace the Prestige plastic, and Shimano/Suntour derailleurs. Rides beautifully, and is now much lighter.

Raleigh Mixte

I'm helping my friend to restore this Raleigh Mixte, I worked on a couple of Mixte frames but never seen one made with Reynolds 531 tubing. I only know that Raleigh Super Course Mk.1 and Mk.2 mixtes were produced with 531. Do you guys have any info on this frame? Would greatly appreciate any advice. it's a very decent frame, with 531, Suntour drop outs (my '72 Super Course doesn't even have a RD hanger), according to S/N is a Worksop built unit.

This page suggests that they were, and seems to show the 23" version, called Rapide there: https://raleighbikedealer.com/1980-raleigh-bikes/
I think the high-tensile framed ladies models changed their names far more often that the specifications. They are fairly common in the UK with three mixtes owned by my family: 19", 21" and 23" (mine). The 19" frame has 24" wheels. The two smaller ones are blue, branded "Wisp" and the larger is black: "Ebony". All have similar specifications with steel-rimmed wheels, Weinmann side-pulls and Huret-Sachs ECO RD (no FD). At least, by '84 they had got rid of the cotter pins!

The 531-framed mixtes are rare here. I think I have only ever seen one.

Edit: The forum software seems to have messed up the link above. Edit https: to https: and it works.

Zombie thread bump....another "show us your mixte" thread has recently resurfaced, but this classic thread (also referenced in that other thread) has a deep history and is worth a revisit. Plus, I have a relatively new contribution to add. Here's a bike I finished rebuilding for my daughter this summer. I posted a build thread but never cross-posted it here in this "happy place." The frame builder is still a mystery (so any leads appreciated). Technically it's sport step-through rather than a mixte, but I hope the sticklers won't mind.

This is one of the coolest mixties out there. A 1975 Motobecane Grand Jubile. Partial Reynolds 531 frame with nervex lugs, exotic Huret Jubilee shifters, front derailleur and long cage rear derailleur. The rest is standard European component mix from the '70s. Very rare.

Here is the latest Peugeot Mixte . This one was in especially good condition when it was donated to the Bike Exchange. I often clear coat the frame but this one was so nice I just rubbed it out with white polishing compound and waxed it. I ditched the original stem shifters and put on these Sun race friction thumbies. I also replaced the broken plastic Simplex front derailleur with a Sun tour unit. The tires are 27 x 1 3/8" semi knobies. Must have been a donation. They give the bike a purposeful look I think.

I;m not even lose to being a passionate amateur, but with the extra stays to the drop outs, it looks like an unusual mixte to me.

The twin tubes from the HT all the way down to the RDO's is the original, true "mixte" configuration, all others are derivatives.

The key take away is that "mixte" means universal, unisex, one for all, a utility bike for butcher, baker, candle stick maker, etc.

I'm not sure calling it a Cavaletto makes it Italian.

Not yet done. 3x10 XT pods, XTR RD and FD, 105 crankset, Cane Creek calipers, Topeak rack. Looking for black fenders and then cable+chain.

Sorry, how's the saddle staying up? I see a big hole where the clamp should be. Or am I missing something?
