Giant Halfway

It turns out the “schwinn” are actually giant HalfWay bicycles. Anyone have an opinion on them. The frame closure looks a little dodgy to me but I am not a folder guy.

Otherwise they look pretty cool.

Giant Halfway folders are considered pretty solid bikes. https://www.bikeforums.net/folding-b...eird-bike.html

Seat post diameter??

I saw when adjusting the seat height on the bikes I purchased that there is a collar/shim between the 28.6 diameter seat post and the down tube. This collar only goes in 4 to 5 inches, which seems like a bad idea. Shouldn’t the seat post fit snuggly the whole length of the Dow tube?

Is this just a shortcut for a base model bike? Are larger diameter aluminum seatposts available?

My aluminum Dahon seatpost is 34mm. However I don't think you have a problem; the minimum insertion marking on my post is 4.5" from the bottom, so that's a safe amount of overlap. If you insert more than the minimum, it shortens the lever arm and your safety factor is even higher.

that shim is exactly as it’s supposed to be. There is no need god it to go in any farther.

Thanks for your input. I’m old school where if your seat post stuck out 4 inches you needed a bigger frame.

Seems like I will need to adjust my thinking.
