For Sale: Restored Gillott SpearPoint
For sale: 1949 Gillott "spear point” 5-speed with early 1970’s Campagnolo components, Titan bar/stem, Ideale 80 saddle. 55cm seat tube ctc, 58cm top tube. Asking $1,260 net to me. Shipping additional, but at cost, no charge for packaging. Pick-up ok too.
Frame/fork refinished by Franklin Frames in Chrysler Turbine Bronze with gold lug lining. Reproduction decals supplied by Gus Salmon.
Built as a 5-speed with period early 1970's components. Campagnolo Sport (short stack) HS, BB, Record Seatpost, Record Hubs & QR's, Record Strada Cranks, Record Pedals, 5-speed Shifter, Nuovo Record Pat. 72 Derailleur. Universal 68 gold anodized calipers, CLB (pretty sure) levers. Titan bar/stem. Ideale 80 saddle. Regina freewheel. Regida 700c rims. Gran Bois 700x28 tires. Christophe Mini toe clips with leather wrapping. Nice bronzy-red bell.
Condition: Lovely frame is without dents or damage. Paint is unblemished except for dropouts - there are some small apparent bubbles in the clear coat and down tube roundrel decal. Lug lining is thin and well done. Flickr link includes a couple as-acquired pics. Components all good to very good, bike rides and shifts well. Braking is weak, levers seem to have minimal leverage, and these are Universal 68’s with original pads. Lots of pics at the flickr link here:

Wowza! That would make the most fantastic commuter ever.I've turned my 1967 Paramount into an upright bar commute/town bike. It's pretty cool. But the coolness factor of yours beats mine by at least a factor of ten.
Someone is going to get a bike/artwork/conversation piece all in one. Imagine rolling up to the local cyclist hangout coffee-run place on that.
