Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I bought this '05 Felt F65 end of August from my LBS for $899. I picked up a set of Dura-Ace 7700 brakes (for cheap) and a new Dura-Ace 7800 crankset (onsale). I also replaced the crappy Alex ALX220 wheels with a set of Velocity Aerohead wheels from Mike Garcia and the crappy Wellgo pedals with Dura-Ace SPD-SL pedals. I have over 500 miles on the bike already and I love it! I have about another $700 into it but it is so much better now than it was when I bought it.

Better than I do. Actually, it is much better now than it was. Maybe partially because I am getting stronger but also because of the wheels. The bike definitely takes off quicker when I get out of the saddle and more of my pedal stroke goes to moving the bike forward instead of into flexing those wet noodles that were on the bike. I'm not a lightweight guy though so a lighter rider might not notice it as much.

I have a Felt 50, It is a 2003 with all Aluminum frame and carbon Fork. All Ultegra triple gruppo with Cosmos Wheels. I added a Flight deck, Look Pedals and a Body Geometry Seat.

I love the bike although it is a little harder ride than my Ritchey BAB. Everything on it works great all of the time. I rode it on Cycle Oregon in 2004 and have about 3500 miles on it. It is my winter bike now that I have the Dura Ace Ritchey BAB

Incidently, I haven't seen another 50 in this list??? Has anyone compared the 2004 frames with the carbon rear triangle to the earlier ones???

Thanks. I actually ride it too! What a concept huh?

I figured the extra 15 grams per wheel for the blue powdercoat wasn't going to hurt my performance too much.

I haven't ridden an all aluminum bike to compare recently but the aluminum with carbon seat stays is still a bit harsh over bumpy roads. Personally, I'd probably prefer a carbon frame bike but I'm getting used to it. I don't have any pain or anything...just the usual butt soreness after a long ride. No numbing or other fit issues though.

My frame is pretty small and those are 650 wheels, so the chainring looks large in comparison. I believe the large chainring is a 54.
