Hey guys,
I always wanted a DeRosa but I don't know much about them. I found this one at Bike World in Des Moines IA. I looked online to find out the year and I'm failing. If you have any insight let me know. It belonged briefly to the long time purchaser for BikeWorld. This was part of his collection.

de rosa's have always been not easy to date precisely
this seems to me to be repaint of an older frame, with incorrect decals. as this does not appear to be a nuevo classico
the nuevo classico is a newer version and does not have top tube brake guides, but of course that could have change over time
https://derosanorthamerica.com/produ...-azzurro-cromo
update, this could very well be wrong based on other posts. but the not level Nuovo Classico decal still bugs me

god damn I love this site, bunch of geeks like me. Not a stock color scheme, makes me wonder if they were a fan of Mich State. Pretty cool find though. I hope you are tall enough.

Did you mean University of Michigan? Michigan State would be green and white. Regardless, it is a sharp looking bike.

1992?
I’m guessing around 1992. This is a photo from a huge Gita Sports insert from Bicycle Guide 1992 and it looks pretty spot on.

Wow guys,
Thanks for all the quick feedback. That's why i love this group. I cant wait till build it up. Cant decide between the NOS parts on my Cinelli .. Then build the Cinelli up retromod with 11 speed campy.. Or put the 11 speed campy on this.
OR>>>.....retro backward and put old super record on it.
JJ

These were awesome frames, by the way. Compared to the standard DeRosa geometry of that time, the Nuovo Classico had a slightly slacker seat angle and slightly longer chain stays (wheelbase) . As a pure bonus, they were built with TSX tubing which seems to be way underrated and you often hear people rave about how lively their TSX frame is. My Nuovo Classico is my favorite DeRosa.

Yep, mine was a great rider but the 54cm frame was a bit smaller when you actually measured it and while I loved the ride I wanted one more in the 55/56cm range so I passed it on to a local buyer.
Mine was TSX but had different pantographing on the fork crown and internal top tube routing for the rear brake cable.

I am hoping that you keep the color scheme. I know most of your bikes are cherry and this one shows some age but still VERY presentable, and I just love the paint. I don't know , but I think , it could be touched up(I wouldn't). Joe

The De Rosa is nice, but what really caught my eye was the mint condition Avocet O2 Air 40R saddle!

Build it so that you will ride it.
This bike is a bit more 'laid back' than a typical De Rosa, think Merckx Century Geometry (I think).
I might even easily take a 28c tire. My De Rosa's (Proferssional and Primato) can barely take a 25c, and then only if it is deflated going into the dropouts.
This bike has a lot of desirable features, Diamante stays, flay fork crown, round brake stay. Cool bike.
