Today was 35 miles. This place is amazing in how diverse it is geologically. The following pics were all taken within 15 miles of each other. From a rain forest environment to lush grassy meadows to high desert.

Went out for an easy 10.5 miles today. I intend to do about the same tomorrow. Came back and did some yard work. Now I'm BEAT!
Whatever exercise I'm not getting from cycling, I am getting from yard work!

30 mile ride yesterday morning on my new to me Merlin Ti...miles of smiles. Then I too returned home to edge, mow and fertilize and treat the yard for fire ants.

107.5 miles!
First century of the year. Temps, timing and conditions were perfect for it. That, and the ol’ legs we’re feelin’ pretty good too!

My front inner tube basically exploded during a 60 mile ride today. It was either from the 100 degree heat or maybe the tube was just bad, perhaps also in combination with the fact that I am using a softer cheaper tire in the front. I replaced the tube and finished the ride. It was a great ride other than that one incident. I had a nice tail wind on the way home. Tail winds are awesome.

17.7mi of what was supposed to be a 32-ish ride but I had four flats in about five miles, all on my rear. New wheels, new tires, all four tubes were new. Yes, obviously something is wrong, but neither I nor the two other guys who helped me out could see or find any sort of culprit at all. We practically went over the inside of the tire and the rim with a magnifying glass. Went straight to the LBS after I pulled the plug on the ride and he basically said something about "bad luck" and put a new tube on it. I will take it for a spin tomorrow and fully expect a flat within a mile or two.

That's what I had to do at one point in time. Tape works much better than the rubber strip.
