1. Heatstroke 100 in Burlington, WI - My first Century
2. Pedal the Kettle - My fastest, and 3rd ever, century - averaged just over 19mph on my steel turd.
3. Top of the World - Whitehall, WI. Perfect day, big hills, fast descents.
4. Apple Affair - Galesville, WI. 42 degrees and rain for almost all of the 67 miles. Weather sucked, but a great ride.
5. MS150 on 8/1 and 8/2. Fun times - raised over $1k.
Was a good year for my first ever full year on a road bike. 3245 miles total and enjoyed 'em all.

dont get me started. i am tearing up just thinking about how fantastic this trip was.
my most zen like cycling moment took place the day prior to Indenpendence Pass. it was our first tip to 12000 feet with the last 14 miles up the mountain via dirt.

^^ That's Cottonwood Pass, not Independence. ^^
Cottonwood of the long dirt climb on the western side and the AWESOME fast pavement on the eastern side.
And Cottonwood, which proved getting up and over the pass early in the day is a really smart move.

thats what i said. the day before IP. its not like i am getting my 12k dirt road mountain passes mixed up.
i will never forget that 20 something year old kid all wet and shaking and stuff. that was a nasty little front that road over the pass.

Here's the clear shot about a minute before the mountains were blotted out completely.
All those people that had to ride down in the back of moving trucks and miss the descent. Had they just waited a while they could have descended to this later that afternoon...
