Something about a chrome bike that makes it look in a class above all other bikes. I guess these all came as chrome frames, as applying chrome seems like a daunting task? You sure don't see many (if any?) new bikes with this finish. So much nicer then gun metal black IMHO

Sure, and it's mutual...I can't help but admire the similarities between our bikes. It's based on a 1970 Raleigh Pro Mk.I which was chromed sometime in the past. I got it as a frame and fork 3-4 years ago. It evolves gradually as needs and opportunities arise. It's a comfortable and sure-footed ride, I take it out when I'm being adventurous around NYC and on moderate gravel and dirt rides. It gets more comments than any other bike I ride.
Keen-eyed observers (aka most of the C&V crowd!) can probably identify most of the build:
VO crankset & BB, Shimano A250 pedals
Microshift 2x10 shifters & brifters
Sun XCD high-flange rear hub, Sanyo-sonic dynamo front hub, Mavic Module 3 rims, RH Bon Jon rubber
Not pictured, Mafac Competition brakes - I replaced the Racers in these photos over the winter
Campy Record headset
I think the stem is a Grand Comp with Nitto Noodle bars
Nitto Crystal Fellow seatpost, Brooks Imperial Flyer
VO faceted fenders
BM head and tail lights
Silca Impero, VO rack, Acorn front and Brooks rear bags, Zefal cage, Kleen Kanteen, Crane bell
Thanks for encouraging my behavior.

What a beauty! What rear derailleur is that? Microshift? How does it shift? It is getting harder and harder to find silver components...

Yep, that's a Microshift rear. It works just fine, esp paired with the ratcheting Dia Compe ENE shifters. Somewhat surprisingly this is my first bike with these and I was skeptical, but I told Olivier to build with what he thought best. It turns out I like the pairing just fine. I'm not a retro-grouch, I have several bikes with brifters. These shift smoothly though and as advertised the directional effort feels equalized by the ratchet device. I had to micro adjust after the occasional over-shift, but I think that says more about my internal Campy friction shift mindset than these shifters.

+1 on the Microshift R10, that's what's on my Pro. I use Microshift's brifters.
