Looks to be in pretty immaculate shape for a 30+ year old bike. I've yet to finish working on my 90 Fisher hybrid so not in the cards for me.

Went and had a look as he was a 10 minute ride away. That frame is seriously sunfaded. I think the original paint was orange but appears a light salmon colour now. Made in Taiwan. Suntour 7 transmission and "Target" crankset. Appeared to be single walled 27"ers, but alloy. I didn't buy or offer anything for it. GT, I don't think you missed anything here.

I used an LBS for a distance purchase; worked out perfectly
I persuaded a seller to take a frame/fork/wheels/parts to a bike shop local to him and they packed and arranged shipping.
This post is to say what a great job they did. The shop is Cycles CL in Montreal. I did it all via email, they were *really* quick replying and doing the work.
They had a used box they gave me, charged me an hour's labour, arranged shipping at better than price as any I could find, and it arrived yesterday. Below are some pictures what they did, and the next time I am in Montreal I am going to go see the shop, I think I'll like it.
Wheels had plastic protectors on the axle ends, wrapped and taped, fork and rear dropouts had the plastic reinforcing bars inserted.
The long box inside held the fork and the brakes:
Frame wrapped completely:
Dropouts, bb, and head tube extra protection:
Fork packing:
There will be more pictures of the bike in a separate thread...
