Caught the first part of the 3s (a 8 man break went clear to the finish - Recursive and Frunkin not in it), went to a meeting, came back and caught the last 10 laps of the Pro Women (field sprint). Talked with JW for a while, tried to play photographer with one of those fancy DSLR cameras and failed miserably (since my regular SLR sits collecting dust in favor of the wife's little point and shoot, I never thought to check the settings on the camera to make sure that the exposure was good! Sorry John!), and just generally enjoyed the weather!

Oh, and Superweek may be dead. As I was watching the women's race, there were a bunch of out-of-town guys talking about the series. Comments from a couple of them (including one guy who said he's been here for the last 9 years) indicated that it was there impression that every year the organizers seem to set a new low bar. They all seemed like they would be doing the TOAD rather than Superweek next year.
Obviously, this seems different than the other reviews I've seen which indicates that this year is much improved over last year, but the 4-5 guys seemed to think otherwise.

Well, it ain't over yet. Good times this morning. As for Sage23 running my camera for a few laps ... ahem, may I quote: "When sucking....I find it best to suck mightily.'
Gotta fly to make Cedarburg. I'm banking on them starting late. Hoping Rock Racing shows.
Frunkin: $5 for me not to post the picture I took of you today. PayPal accepted.

I still suck mightily.
Superweek was great this year. I will be back again next year.

I should have been more clear, I guess. These were *ummm* older guys who appeared to be support/team manager types for the teams today. The one guy talked about what Superweek was like years ago when he was racing.

Well, there's always been a love-hate relationship to Superweek. *Cue music* That's why everybody who has ever done it has stories to tell. I've always thought that someone should write a book about it, and I guess Heidi Minguez has one started. Get it all down on paper while Otto is still around.
Cedarburg was pretty cool. Biggest crowd ever they claim and it could very well be. You know, of course, there was a Superweek moment - one of their VIP laps in the pace car almost stacked up the field into the back of it on the line, but hey ... it's Superweek!
Interesting finish - check my page in the morning for more on that. Lakefront long course tomorrow - kewl. Working on a bike cam for the Pro 1/2 in Kenosha, that will be kewl. Right Frunkin********** (That's okay, you're our Cat. 3 James Stemper )
Then, when the podium ceremony was all over, announcer Eddy Van Guyse calls out, "HEY, WHERE'S OUR OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHER?" They needed a photo of the raffle winner of an $800 bike featuring the shop owner and the race winner. Official photographer? Well, I didn't seen him all night ... so I stepped right up and popped off a dozen. They'll find 'em if they want 'em. If you're the official photographer, should you be actually present to do the photographering ?

I really don't think this year has been any better. Late starts, unfriendly registration people (at times, sometimes okay), organizers are publicly unprofessional. e.g. Otto swearing Monday morning at the crew setting up barricades, the car door he's in comes flying open while still in motion, and he's getting out saying he'll just do it himself and why bother. Saturday one of the Garrison brothers was on the sidewalk going up to registration swearing at someone on the other end saying that he was going to get them fired if they did not do what he said. Behind closed doors is one thing, but publicly for everyone to hear? Come on. The local riders and businesses are the ones that make the race. Sure the pros draw the crowds, but the local sponsors, the local riders are the ones that pay the bills, or at least for Superweek, try to pay the bills. My, I could go on for a bit, but I don't want to get worked up before bed!

Not surprising JW, but you've beaten the local new photographer (heck, even I may have beaten him!):

Absolutely. There aren't enough hours in a day to weed through 1,000 pictures, reduce that down to 120 or so best ones, and upload. I've shot some cool stuff, but with 5 days of racing yet to cover, 'ya gotta be patient.

Yup, and it's coming closer to you again.
Good racer turn out on the Lakefront Long Course. Early morning rain cleared to sunny skies in the afternoon. Props to Superweek and the Milwaukee Police Dept. for shutting down a normally busy lake front area on a Wednesday so there could be races. It's an awesome course.
Not sure where Frunkin ended up, he was off the front early in the 70 mile 3's race. Pradun with a good ride, took the field sprint for THIRD. Got gypped because they didn't do a proper podium for the 3's (like they did for everyone else, welcome to Superweek!). A good result nonetheless.

I don't normally post much in this forum, from san diego, but I am out here for super week. I've had a great time so far. I have to say, the masters race this morning, was rather disappointing with their "protest" on the line. Sad sight to say the least.

Race Report: I'm fat, slow, and stupid. Going off the front early was dumb, dumb, dumb. I have no idea why I do stuff like that because I always pay for it.
And thank for that pic. It's great. And yes the shoes were 2 and a half sizes too small and my toes were numb the whole race and the balls of my feet hurt from the cleat bolts. Awesome.

Nothing really. The start was late, and the masters 40+ guys got the whistle and they just sat there. 3 guys took off and the rest sat there and said it was in protest. I was behind in the 4/5's, a few of us finally told them to get the F out of the way or we would run them over.
