Mystery Bike help…
Mystery bike help… hoping someone with a good eye can help me identify this one. Not mine yet. Unicanitor saddle, some Nuovo Record, maybe Sheffield pedals? Way Assuato headset maybe? Lugs are pretty distinctive, especially the arrow point on the fork crown. Anyway any assistance appreciated!!

Hmm.. thank you Juvela that is super interesting. There’s something that intrigues me about this bike, I was thinking 60’s, trying to ascertain whether it’s worth the considerable travel, expense and trouble it would take me to get it or not. Appreciate your help very much! I was not familiar with the crankset and I’ve seen a lot of cranks. Very much appreciate your help.

I hope so! I know iab has a deep familiarity with 60’s bikes. I only know enough to know my spider sense started tingling when I saw this one…

Geeze - go get it! Were it available to me and if it were my size and, of course, workable in my bike budget, I would be refurbishing it already. I love chrome lugs! And that fork crown -woFNw.

THat is a super cool bike...frame is nice enough, but that crankset and stem are big winners...brake levers are interesting...

brake levers are standard Universal Nr.301 model with adjusting barrel nr. 354
it is the aftermarket booties which contribute to the appearance...

I hear you Randy. I’ve found though, with little storage space, 3 kids with bikes and a pretty sizeable collection I have to be very selective in what I pick up. This one spoke to me because I just happen to love that 60’s aesthetic, but if it’s not something really interesting I don’t need another bike just for laughs. I have a lot of nice bikes already. Also I don’t want to be materialistic and just want to possess things like a magpie. I do like it though, we’ll see…

jdawginsc I agree, the components are cool. I’ve got boxes of cool components though so honestly the frame would have to be something interesting for me to buy it. My gut says it is, but was hoping it might ring a bell for someone here. I was thinking Garlatti but some of the details don’t add up. It has the feel of a bike that was actually built up to race though. Decisions, decisions…

It looks like a Piave:
Ciclo Piave (by the Michelin family) is a very underrated marque, especially outside of Italy. Not sure why, since the craftsmanship is excellent plus, come on, those chromed spears points are just cool.
It's hard to tell from the pics but there's something going on around the seat lug. I've never seen a Piave with half chrome/half painted seat lug. Actually, I've never seen that on any frame with original paint. Maybe this is a repaint?
I would expect the head lugs to have the spears on the front.
I would also expect a serial number along the seat lug edge on the NDS.

Trust me, I feel you and have gone through the lots of bikes thing a few times now. I, too, have minimal storage space since selling my city property and on several occassions sold of groups of bikes to manage some sort of control of my over achieving inventory...
These days, I live at the lake cottage during decently warm to cool weather and bail for Jamaica during the really cold months (five approximately). My storage capacity is four bikes and I do have four bikes (1958 Rabeneick, 1968 Legnano GP, 1969 Torpado and my 2000 Marinoni). Unfortunately, I also have a few project bikes or frame sets (1962 Torpado Professional. 199? Quintanna Roo, 1968 Carlton Corsair, early seventies Torpado LUXE). I am totally crammed for space but I am also addicted to "the find".
I love it when I find another vintage bike. Tomorrow, for the first time in a year, or more, I am going yard sale hunting and who knows what will show up. If nothing, I still have the GR fitted Torpado to fall back on. Hopefully, I can withstand the urge to buy.
Will I ever do an inventory clean up again? Right now, if I could but the market is weak and so is my resolve to reduce my collection of grossly unneeded steeds.
Oh ya - tomorrow is see what I can find at the dump day also.

Maybe a repair? The painted inner chain stay graphic was a Piave thing I guess...lovely lug work.
