Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

One hypothesis is that it comes from France - 'chocolat et creme'. BTW, there's also no cream in it. It's just thin, fizzy chocolate milk.

They had meat, liquor, and there was nothing near there like it. They had a red Coca Cola case out front which you just opened and grabbed a bottle of your choice and carried it into the store to pay.

One night in about 1969 or 70 some *******s kicked the door down at night and stole all the liquor and cigarettes they could carry. The store closed after that. He was really upset and felt betrayed. We all knew who did it but nothing happened to them.

People are living in the building now and I took a picture of it last year when I rode by.

Yes, also known as a chocolate soda, kin to the nickel cherry and the two-cent plain.

I just got done with my weight training. Ate yogurt with lunch, had some greens in my salad with dinner. Need to get my calcium sources figured out. Getting old sucks.

47 grams. That’s enough sugar to kill a horse.

I take calcium supplements. One or two a day. #PillPopper

So…my cycling cleats are just about dead. I am having painful hot spots on both feet and my feet just feel blah after short rides (which is all I do in the winters). My current shoes are 10+ year old Mavics with two Velcro straps in the front and mid-foot and a ratcheting style lock-in near the ankle.

I want to get new shoes and am focusing on speed of getting them on and off in transition zones during triathlons and am looking at Sidis with the Boa tie downs. Does anyone have them? Feedback? Thoughts/comments/consternations??

I don't have Sidis but I have Boas. Best thing ever, IMO. But I've never even pretended to do a transition with 'em.

My wife uses Sidi tri specific shoes with Velcro that work really well. She hasn’t tried a boa

My only feedback is that shoe fit is SO PERSONAL that it's one item I think it's worth trying/buying at a LBS rather than save a few bucks getting mail-order.

One other issue, the Sidi "Boa" is not really a boa but a boa-knockoff. I know some people like them but some do not. I am still using older generation Sidi Genius with two velcro straps in front and a ratchet/buckle closer to the back. I am fine with that system TBH.

NYC has always had great water. But I’m loathe to even comment on the topic, so many places are having water problems lately.

I agree, but the 3 LBSs nearby have limited shoe inventory. Unless I want Specialized or some others, I’m either driving an hour or stuck with buying and returning.

I was looking at the new Sidi Genius too, but it doesn’t have the “Boa” tie downs.

Understood, but in that case be sure you buy from a place that has a good return/exchange policy.

Philly usually has ok water, but not this week.

The house I grew up in had a deep well (I forget how deep but a few hundred feet) and the water was amazingly good and cold, so refreshing on a hot day.

I walked to my witch doctor (nurse) appointment this a.m. Thirty minutes (no Strava).

I lost a few pounds since the last weigh-in. Back in the 140s.
