Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hey MoAlpha do you know much about post-hypoxic brain demyelination syndrome? I am afraid my sister has it. Sad.
sorry to hear about this. You were, are and will be missed. If we lose another Doug we will be Doug-less.

I think one of my meds is causing this as a side effect. Maybe the metoprolol. I concur, 70F is cold.

I failed to mention that I took the 84 Schwinn Letour Luxe, my coupled bike, which I haven't ridden in three years. I had forgotten how nice a ride it is. Vittoria Open Pavé 27mm tires, my favorite clinchers.

No. it’s closely related to West Nile and Dengue Fever. When it first hit me my wife thought it was meningitis because very stiff neck, very high fever, and bad headache. First onset on a Friday while we were in Antigua. Thought my fever broke after getting home Sunday. It still was 102 after the fever “broke.” No bike riding for almost a year.

Chikingunya swept through here a few years ago. Some older women gringas got secondary cancers, or cancer-like diseases, following it. It's still around, of course, but more under control. I had Dengue, probably ten years ago. It does a thing where your sick for 10 days, get well for a few days, and then get blasted again. The trick is to not fall into the trap of thinking you're really well. I found out what it was upon having a previously scheduled blood test. The doc described the symptoms perfectly.

I had to take a bike to the shop today for the first time in about 40 years. The pad-retaining screw on my rear hydro caliper was frozen (unlike metals and sweat) and I messed up the head. Then I contaminated the pads with penetrating oil, making the bike essentially unrideable. Should have tried heat first. I have other bikes, but fortunately it’s a much needed rest week.

He was a monster on defense. 7'4" with long arms, tough to get a shot up near him. I think he has shot blocking records.

I heard he died on a bike ride. Sad.
