Just a few points about used shorts to think about ...

I'm a woman who wears her shorts on long, long, long rides. I've been in the same pair of shorts for 24+ hours on many occasions. As a woman, we have a certain monthly cycle. It's a pain to use products for that cycle while riding, so a lot of us women just use the padding in the shorts, so to speak.

Knowing the mess my shorts are in at the end of my long rides, there is absolutely NOTHING which would compel me to buy used shorts.

I wonder how many cyclists are stuffing a sock in their bicycle shorts walking around like Ron Burgundy saying "Don't act like you're not impressed"

Might be a niche market for those, too.

Does eBay have a fetish section?

Who said anything about cyclists frequently washing their cycling shorts, especially those with chamois padding? Or washing them at all?

You'd rather ride 'shortless?' Bare bunz on a saddle? . . . poor saddle!

Whenever you buy used stuff, ask yourself. "would I wear this on my head"? If not, pass.

I don't know what all the fuss is about, it's 80% water and we've got chemicals to take care of the remaining 20.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with an employee at my local bike shop. I had to get a pair of shorts replaced under warranty - one of the seams opened. He held the bibs at arm length by a shoulder strap.

"Oh come on Pete, I washed them before bringing them in here" I said.

"I'd do this even with my own washed bibs, and I KNOW where those have been."

Is it common for cyclists to ride with 'dirty' chamois? Wait, don't answer....

OK, let me rephrase it. Is it common for cyclists to wear cycling shorts on consecutive days without an intervening washing?

She got about what she paid for the shoes in the first place, and tried to sell him some of the rest of her stuff too. Which isn't a bad deal for the seller when you think about it.

I'm a long time thrift store shopper, and I have no problem with used bike shorts, as long as they are in good condition. You can tell by close examination. Some look like they were almost never even worn. (like the thrift store bikes that were never ridden). I have found shorts in thrift shops with the tags still on.

Americans in general are too squeamish. Just my opinion.
