Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yes, it does. Makes indexing, and then re-indexing easy. I moved both rings last night, but it will be a few days before I can try it out.

Make cornbread with it - but not the sugary kind. Fry potatoes in it.

for me, it's actually diminishing. Winter is the worst. I just want to eat donuts, pizza, and burgers.

I meant the pin that protrudes toward the crankarm to prevent the chain from going in there.

There used to be a cafe in the San Gabriel mountains where we would stop for chili on a cold day. It had a small horseshoe bar and was run by a family, some of them lived there. I first went there on a ride in 1989, the building was there close to 100 years and it burned down in 2009 during the Station fire.

mmmh, nope, I just get stuck at the “it sounds horrible”, and I’m not picky, I would even change Mo’s quote of “no insects and no recognizable organs” to “no insects”, I eat most things that come within a foot of my pie hole...

probably going to be as expensive as a new washer. I took apart our washers several years back to replace a broken drum shaft (replaced the bearings while at it), and I can truly say it is not a short, nor simple job. Not difficult, and relatively straightforward, but takes a huge amount of time, and definitely mush easier to do with two at times.

I’ve completely failed at that the last 5 days. My regular 1800 calorie days are shot to h***.

For reference, these are 3 min on, 3 min off and, if I were to guess, I'd say that she's in her mid-50s and ~135-140lbs.

Then there was snorkeling, swim team, Sea Scouts, Dive Master, sailing instructor, the coursework, the big research ships, sonar surveys, the models, the papers, and the whole academic game. Sorry to go on and on, I just love this girl.

Oh, and she's getting married next month, but we won't be there, which is a great way to save a bundle.
Not a darn thing wrong with that. Continue on to your hearts content.

That cafe had a family of polydactyl cats. The last one lived to 25. Here is a picture of me holding him about 15 years ago.

There was another cafe in the Santa Monica mountains which had excellent chili made with tri-tip. Man, a bowl of that chili after several hours of climbing made the cruise home nicer. Sadly, that place also burned down during the Woolsey fire in 2018.

At 135lbs, that makes her 220maxW almost 3.6 w/kg. Those intervals look like they're pretty close to that. For me, that's 293W, which is pretty rough to repeat that many times. I like how her efforts trend up as the session progressed.

She knows her training. Beginning of the training year with these, I would inevitably be backward, and clawing at the cliffs to hang on to 300 watts.

Is that the place on Angeles Forest Hwy? At first I thought it was Newcomb's Ranch, but I see they are still operating, according to their FB page..

I also like the fact that it wasn't complete rest. She pedaled between, excepting the dead stop gasping for air as she ended some of them. That's excusable.

Well, they sure aren't disks! But they will eventually stop the bike.
On my Yokota build, I didn't want to drill the frame, so I put the original Shimano Exage single pivot brakes back on. The pads were old and hard and hinted at slowing the bike down. I replaced them with these:
