I think that's a reason why sometimes we see things as tubes that don't belong in a specific frame or different types of lugs/joints. Great bike!
I was a shop mechanic and racing USCF back when these were new, no one would ever deliberately disassemble an ALAN frame, but cyclocross, hard spinting strong ridders or abuse could cause the joints to come loose, the approved fix was a new frame, but some 2nd hand frames were re glued

Here they did, not everyone but it happened. I got no reason to think the guy is just telling stories. And of course, factory warranty was very good these days.

A Flanders rebadged and repainted Super Record CX frame with flattened top tube. The red and silver-metal is original. I hope there aren't possible cracks on the lugs/joints as you don't see them this way.

It came to me full Dura Ace except for the Campy SR headset. I rebuilt the 7400 hub with a 7403 freehub body to run HG cassettes. Doesn't shimmy on fast descents
like my Vitus 979 does, rides a little stiffer as well.

Nice what year is this really came out.

The production year is probably on the seattube but maybe you mean the year this frame came on the market? This is a Record, they're from 1985 available.

When Guerciotti came with with these I don't know.

In 2022 Alan exists for fifty years. This is a first generation frame from 1972.

There will be a Alan Anniversary Ride in Cervio, Italy, 30 october, Alan Day.And maybe more will follow. I'm thinking to build this up for those rides. In 1972 it was not common to build a racing bicycle with just one group although Alan recommended Campagnolo. I'm not in that old Campy-stuff, far too expensive and I prefer a build with stuff I already have. I guess it's gonna be a mishmash but I try to keep it time correct.

the top racers got frames, the rest of us got stickers
it wasn't required to use the Peugeot decals
but when I got the Alan it already had the factory lettering removed, so the team logo got applied

IIRC, Peugeot exclusively dealt with Vitus for their aluminum and carbon framed bikes in the 80's.
Putting Peugeot decals on an ALAN ftameset could have amounted to blasphemy for Peugeot and Vitus.....

I guess post 1984, Peugeot's then fading relationship with Vitus and their pretty much ending their "Tout French" bike specifications on most of their bikes, let them do this one year of using the ALAN/Donnay CF framed bikes,
Interesting though that the frameset was not attributed to ALAN in the ad. Maybe Peugeot did not feel comfortable showing a direct competitors name on it, and an Italian bike company to boot (Donnay is Belgian).

Thanks for sharing that .
Have an "ALAN" that I had always thought was different from others .
Was aware of the Donnay connection , But not the Peugeot .
All very interesting .

Alan / Donnay originally decaled as a Carrerra

The 86 Carbonios were the best looking ones for the CF bike line in the 80's as they had the points on their lugs to improve the aesthetics......

I'm surprised that ALAN deleted the lug points on their later Carbonios with just plain straight ended lugs that were similar to the ones on Vitus 979s and TVTs. One would think that an Italian bike company would have tried to retain those asthetics.

Don't forget that this is how the company started ...

at first

and soon after.
Maybe they were more technicians than designers.
