Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

ATTN east coasters. After a couple of cancellations, the Tbirds are gonna try to fly over Jones Beach tomorrow, so get on out to Long Island.

@Velo Vol is an east coaster.

Maybe he'll swing by and grab a coney while he's at it.

White is best for cars. The contrast with black accents is so good.

Blue is best for bikes. Sneaky, stealthy fast.

One would hope. He hasn't responded yet, so he must be on the road. He's probably in Blacksburg by now!

I had a white Trek 660 like this one. It's amazing how it shows dirt and looks like crap after one ride. White cars don't look dirty so fast.

The Old Schwinn was originally white. I painted it blue a few years ago.

You mow your half acre faster than DougRNS mows his 0.2 acre.

The Texas monsoon season, which for a while was April and August, has now run through May and is looking to extend well into June, with no end in sight. And after tomorrow will spend a week and change in the northeast, so someone else will own the podium for a while. My goal of clobbering last year's mileage is in jeopardy.

Just like A-A-Rod.

When we lived in The Richmond in SF, the Blue Angels would always perform over Crissy Field during Fleet Week. They'd make a pass over the crowd and then have to go out over The Richmond and The Sunset to get turned around. So we got a lot of lowish altitude flyovers. Our place had a view all the way across town, even as far as the East Bay, so we'd see 'em coming. Pretty cool!

Mrs. GeneJockey is a big fan of white for cars, but the Challenger in white just looks HUGE. Much better in blue

4 of my 7 bikes are blue, but only the Ritchey was intentional. When I bought it, it was white. After I'd had it for 10 years, I had it repainted by the guy who used to paint all of Ritchey's frames, back when they were built in the US.

I drove from Portland up to Seattle to catch the Blue Angels a few times. One year we got up there a little late and I saw they were already flying so I just took an exit and pulled the car over on the nearest street that almost had a view of the lake. That turned out to be a pretty sweet spot as it was up on a hill and they would fly VERY close overhead, much closer than they'd ever be when viewing from the I-90 bridge.
