Been a poor year of riding for me, unfortunate circumstances. I did see some giant chickens and other stuff this last week.

You just reminded me of my major elk sighting. Last fall, when I rode up from Sacramento to Seattle, I went East, around Lake Tahoe, then North, through Reno, Carson City, & all those places. I cut West somewheres, and went through the Modoc National Forest.

One night, I got to a town in time to resupply, but ended up cowboy camping (no tent) in a field. When I woke up, around 5:30-ish, there was a huge herd, just like in that video, just walking around grazing. I didn't even want to get up, for fear I'd spook them. Didn't want to spoil their breakfast, lol. 😁

I knew I was very fortunate, to see that, let alone having them walking peacefully, so close. 😎
EDIT: On second look, my herd might not have been THAT big. Probably around 30-ish. 🙂

Today is a public holiday in the UK, so out to the park: Richmond Park just 2 miles away.

It's 3 times the size of Central Park NY.

Not far from where I live in Sweden we have this military aircraft. It's a SAAB J35 Draken. It was built in 89 and last time it flew was in 1990.

Is that, "It was built in 89 and last time it flew was in 1990.", a typo? One year is a ridiculously short service life, even for peaceful Sweden! I've always admired SAAB fighters. They somehow manage to work some art into their highly-functional designs.

Most of us have at least heard of Davis before, as in the University of California at Davis. But I never knew the city of Davis was solar powered, until today. 👍 This is just North of town, on county road 102, heading towards Woodland, where I got my new bottom bracket, off craigslist, lol. 😁😉

Neat! And they have a vintage bicycle as their logo. Not a dropped handlebar touring bike, but it's a bike. @stardognine , perhaps you can coax them into something a little more modern while you are there.

Oh no, I wouldn't presume to outsmart these folks.😉 There's also a bicycle museum here, in a city park close to the main campus. I haven't had time to check that out yet, but they're probably pretty proud of that old bike logo. 👍

In Davis is the US Bicycling Hall of Fame, moved there after many years in Somerville NJ, which was the venue for a long-time big-time annual bike race thru the town.

That must be what I meant to say. 😁😉

I'm obviously not that familiar with the area, but I kinda like it. Other than the hot summer temps, lol. It hit 116°F over here in Sacramento once this year, which is the new record. 😲 I can hang with it, but would rather stay around 90°F or less. 😉

Battersea Park, London.
The fountains are working and the sun is out for a bit.
I could go closer but you're not allowed to cycle on this bit, including where those two are.

This is downtown Sacramento. I've seen it a few times before, but just now finally grabbed a pic. It's a little tricky even walking there, with all the construction work.

The red, white and blue barn at Avenue 12 and Highway 41. The land will be developed for a hospital in the next few years, but they have vowed to save it and incorporate it into another part of the property.
