I am surprised no one has mentioned Ambrosio Bike Ribbon, it's been popular since the '80s, textured vinyl with chamfered edges for a smooth wrap, easy to clean and long lasting. Typically cost less than $10.oo

Wow, do know how I missed this beauty the first time? Truly, a gorgeous bike! Love the color, gives a 50s vibe. What's the history of your bike?

This is a frame that spent years hanging in @gugie's Atelier. He picked it up cheap from a local non-profit (Community Cycling Center) because some previous owner had chopped off the rear derailleur hanger. The paint was flaking and the decals were almost entirely gone. For a long time he had assumed it was an Atala because only the "la" remained of the original decals. Only after looking closer at the build details like the fishmouth fork and stay ends, and the 26.4 seatpost size did he realize it was French. Every time I visited the Atelier I'd look up and admire the color scheme and chrome lugs. Eventually @gugie agreed to repair the derailleur hanger and sell it to me at a reasonable cost on the condition that I give it the proper restoration it deserved. I was more than happy to agree. Here's a pic of it in my garage after the initial repair.

(The paint is actually much worse than it appears in the pictures.) After a test build to make sure I liked the fit and ride of it, I took it back to the Atelier to have water bottle bossed added.

After that, I sent it off to Jeffrey Bock to be painted and decaled. Jeff did a wonderful job, as you can see.

The final step was a custom repro headbadge made by @rhm.

No leather but support the right Fizik tape,
This one has the 2mm thick tape and keeps really clean for a long time with easy clean up.

This one has teh 3mm semi tacky surface that does not clean up well

Fizik Performance tape is the best I have ever used but it is hard to find and may be out of production...not sure why.

Be careful with ordering Ambrodio Bike Bibbon bar tape.
I made the mistake of buying their tape (In yellow), not knowing what the ebay seller was selling was the smooth version of it. I was really surprised when I opened the package and he tape did not have any texture on its surface at all and was quite glossy looking, not like their textured tape that looks and feels so much better. I installed it on my Gitane build and it looked really cheap and tacky because of it's plasticky look. It also felt like it's going to be slippery if it gets wet. Took it off from my handlebar right away without even getting to use it and replaced it with yellow Neubaum's cloth tape. Soon much better!
Make sure you are getting the textured tape if you buy the Bike Ribbon tape, unless you are into the smooth and shiney look......
