FSA megaexo BB - what thread do they use?
Need to change FSA Megaexo BB (I think that's what I have) to square tapered JIS.
Do I simply remove old BB and install the new one or is it more complicated? I know square JIS use English thread but can't find info about the FSA, do they use the shame?

BB threads are based on what the frame is threaded for. Bottom bracket shells have been threaded in English (BSA), French, Italian, and Swiss threads over the years.
Most threaded BB built since say the mid 90's are English threaded (1.37" X 24) with a smattering of Italian.
The spindle length of your new BB will be determined by whatever new crankset you are installing on it.

As dedhed posted it has nothing to do w/ the brand of bottom bracket, it has everything to do w/ the frame and how it is threaded.

I think the FSA MegaEXO is for two piece cranksets with a 24mm spindle. No JIS or any square taper involved. If you are in the market for a new crank and BB, then in most cases I'd recommend you get a 2 piece crank.
What crank do you have or what crank are you intending to put on it. Get the part number off the backside of the crankarm if there is one.

I had a nice FSA mega expo on my Wilier from 2013. I finally decide to upgrade got a Shimano r7000 but still have the 10 speed Ultegra 6700 groupset. These cranks are way better and spin much better. You have a BSA threaded BB so get an R7000 11 spd crank and a Shimano BBR60 Bottom Braket for that crank. The crank will run 10 spd components and it will spin much better. It probably will cost you about $210 to do this but well worth the money and easy to swap out.

JIS bottom brackets do not necessarily have to use English threading. In all likelihood your frame is English threaded, but there is no way for us to know that without details about your actual frame and perhaps why you have to change the bottom bracket which will also require a new crank

Boardman Hybrid bike, roughly 2011-2014 in relatively mint condition. The frame has different BBs depending on the year, some were built with BB30, some with PF30 and some with FSA megaexo.
Will use Sugino 42/26 JIS instead of the original FSA compact 50/34. If my bike has English thread, then will use Tange 3922 BB.

If you take the bike by a bike shop when it's slow, you can probably engage the mechanic in a lengthy conversation about your bike and cycling and get all kinds of information about what you might have on your bike. Mechanics and shops owner's at LBS around me will talk your head off once you get them going. And all for FREE!

And the answer is...
FSA Mega Exo uses English thread. Removing the FSA and replacing it with square tapered BB was a straightforward task on my bike.
