Panasonic owners? Roll call!
Just doing a bit of a roll-call to see how many of you are out there....
Mine is a 1988 DX-5000 with Tange Prestige and 600 Ultegra group. I bought it new.

My '88 PT-3500 touring Panasonic isn't nearly as flashy but it is solid and reliable. The frame is Tange 1000. I use it for my daily commute. I actually found it at a pawn shop for $30 but I've probably got $250 in it now.

Cool PT! I haven't seen one of those since 1988 in the showroom. My DX has been uber reliable over the years as well. Easily more reliable than my modern Pinarello.

Well, I desired this one but it got away thanks to the seller who despite saying it was mine and scheduling a pick-up date, sold it to someone else the night before. Yet another Craigslist nut-job (there may in fact be a few honest and reliable sellers on CL, but I have met only 1 in the last 10 things I've "attempted" to buy. Blah...)

I took a couple quick pics for you of the bottom of the BB etc. I am not sure where it was made to be honest. Head tube number is 7K02143

The dropout/stay joints, headlugs and BB shell are identical to the Raleigh USA machines. The seat lug does differ, but the other DX models in this thread seem to match the earlier lug. There was a later lug on Taiwanese '86 models, but it is slightly different then that of your DX-5000:
It really is too close to the Raleigh machines to throw to the wind - I'm pretty sure this is a match. Here is a photo of my (former - now Quickdraw's) '86 Raleigh Grand Prix in comparison. This is a Taiwanese model, but you can see the similarity in the finishing of the tube end, which was carried over from the original design on the Japanese-produced examples.

Great looking Pana's. I've been after a DX-3000 or better since I lost out on eBay about 2 months ago on a black/yellow fade. Just the frame would do. In my opinion, best paint quality out there, will still look good in 20 more years....
