must be others out there! I know of a handful. maybe, as any of us pop out there, we'll add to this crowd sourced clearing house of knowledge! helpful to others & myself when returning

plus I have some pics I don't know what to do with. got out there a cpl weeks ago, wish it was for longer & hope to go back again this year. but did get a handful of rides in. some rides as simple as to the post office, bakery, hardware store or general, corner store. some longer rides, to more remote or distant areas. every ride inspires more future rides! the end of June is a great time to go!

from Oak Bluffs, heading South on the County Road bike trail, toward the Manuel F Correllus State Forest

Beth Way entrance from Edgartown Road. South into the forest

Fire Rd A heading South

a cpl soft spots, but generally good riding conditions for 45mm tires (but I would prefer my MTB)

Fisher trail

when you come to a fork, take it

Barnes Road

other access info & maps beg. in post #111 here

I took my gravel bike there a few Mondays back. Perfect weather. I managed to scope out new to me dirt roads that weren’t private property. Started out with breakfast in Vineyard Haven followed by lunch at 7A Foods in Tisbury. Much to my delight I enjoyed a beer on the ferry back to Woods Hole.

Yep, it was a good day! The bike ferry was closed for maintenance for a few days that week.

disappointed more ppl don't add to this thread. there must be a ton of ppl cycling out there. would love to hear from them!

regardless, Wifey has surprised me with an electric bike rental this weekend. dunno how it will pan out &/or how much of my cycling stuff I will bring. but I think Mr. GoPro & a cpl mounts should be in my knapsack ...

I’ve took a few days off in early November. Expecting mostly empty roads I’m planning a mid week ride on the Vineyard. I imagine I’ll need to pack plenty of snacks since my usual food spots will be closed but the riding alone should make it still worthwhile.

awesome, I wish you good weather. quieter roads than in July, is such a relief!

I miss riding there. Stayed in Oak Bluffs twice a year in the mid 80s to early 90s and did the road race too.

It was a great 75 mile day. Comfortably cold weather with no tourist. I’d do it again in the offseason. Little weird seeing so many closed places that are normally crowded but there was enough open cafe’s that I still managed to enjoy a lobster roll in VH before the ferry ride back.

I'm a big fan of visiting the Cape year round & it is a melancholy change at the end of the summer. but there is always so much to look forward to that it keeps me distracted & entertained anyway. but riding like you did, you would need to plan ahead, eh? nice pic of the Gay Head Light in Aquinnah! I envy your fortitude. I wonder if an electric rental bike would have enough battery to take my old arsenal out there & back. btw what is the secondary orb in the sky near the horizon to the right of the sunset?

got some good news recently. after a 2 year wait, we're getting use of Wifey's family's house in Oak Bluffs again, end of June. wish it was for more than a week. at least it's early in the summer & starts our summer off w/ a bang
