FS: 25"/63.5cm Dawes Realmrider Project
Hello folks,
For sale is a project bicycle that I recently picked up. It's a Dawes Realmrider from what appears to be the late 1960s or early '70s. The frame is straight but has plenty of surface wear and measure 25" center-to-top with a 23" top tube center-to-center. The 27" steel rims are unmarked and it has alloy Normandy hubs. The crankset is cottered and unmarked (no pins). The bottom bracket is a TDC (Thomas D. Cross) and the headset is unmarked. The pedal caps say "Made in W. Germany." The steel seat post is in decent condition and quite long! It was originally equipped with a Simplex Prestige rear derailleur, GB bar and stem, and Weinmann center-pull brakes. You get what you see below plus a 110mm GB stem that's missing the handlebar binder bolt. I think it's good bones for a start if it's the kind of project someone fancies having a go at!
I'm asking $50 for the lot. Obviously local pickup is preferred but I am willing to ship it for an additional $25 for the trouble of boxing it up (plus the actual cost of shipping)... I can also deliver it anywhere in California between LA and the Bay Area some weekend for my asking price plus fuel costs. Cheers!

Cool project. I'm working on a similar era Dawes. Does this one have a serial number under the bottom bracket, and if so, does it start with two numbers that could plausibly be the year of production?
Thanks and good luck!

albrt I'm afraid that I could not locate a serial # on the bottom bracket or on either of the dropouts on this frame. Sorry to not be of more help. Cheers!

Thanks for checking. I would happily pay $50 if this were local. Perhaps if this does not sell I can convince the wife to take a vacation in the Valley this fall. We have not been to the Chicken Pie Shop in Fresno for many years.
