It's New England and it's Winter

The snow is well behind last year (Central Massachusetts) and the trail riding is a tad rough but it's aways great to be out in the woods. It's now February and finally the freezing temps have moved in. It is also half day Friday so time to go play in the cold temps with the Fat bike. After a three-hour ride I was still nice and toasty but had errands to run so I had to end the fun. Just need more snow and the temps to stay cold so the fun gets even better.

Riding our local L.I. Trails on a mt. bike in winter is best when everything is frozen. No mud, hard pack and fast.

I think we set a record yesterday, no measurable snow until 2/1. It was a dusting, maybe an inch, doubt it. Old record set in 1973 was 1/30

Looking forward to that on Sun, everything frozen but not iced or snow coated, tomorrow will be a bit too chill for me to ride. Edgewood yesterday was a mixed batch, still patches of snow in places with thick mud in others, mostly just slightly damp. Frozen dirt its a fast trail.

looks like excellent fast conditions! except for that frozen brook? good for you, for doing the trail maintenance

right now I'm stuck w/ 2 studded bikes w/ no conditions suitable for those tires. just riding the road bike on clean rail trails. c'mon winter gimme one more chance! I really want a night ride on snow covered trails in the forest!

Winter hasn't been so great so far this year, hoping it turns around soon.
