Oh, drivers of all stripes are aggressive now. Assume otherwise at your own peril.
These are neither individually nor collectively unique to Manhattan.

Oh, FFS!
I swear, my post on last night's ride on the Lotus was duplicated, so I THOUGHT I was deleting one of the two. Oops.
So yesterday I took Mrs. Peel out for a longer ride, this time with the 'new' wheels from Poland. The braking was a bit better, but still not actually good. I managed to get rid of the squeal from the rears by adding a little toe-in. I went ahead and ordered a set of Kool-stop pads and shoes. Authentic is nice, but if I can't stop when I want....
I did 25 miles, and got something like 4 PRs, so clearly this is not just a 'Cafe Run' bike. Now, where the hell do I put this thing?

Of course soon after that the shaft on a gear broke. I was able to drill the gear out and hammer a cut off drill shank into it and it works.

I finally bit the bullet and bought a truing stand. I couldn't swing the $300 for a Park TS2.2, plus another $50 for the dishing stick, so I went for a Minoura FT-1 that came with a dishing stick, for < 2/3 of that. It arrived last night, but I didn't want to true in the dark. So this morning I went through the wheels on the last 3 bikes I built up - the Cannondale, the Circuit, and Mrs. Peel. In each case, I'd bought used wheels off Ebay, and then done only 'brake pad truing", so I figured the truing stand would be a lot more finicky.
Nope. All 6 wheels were true in the round and in the flat. Also properly dished. Now I HAVE TO build up some wheels to justify the expense of buying the stand!

I have a Makita 7.2 volt drill that I got for customer satisfaction points back when they used to reward us, around 1990. The second battery went bad a few years ago and I should have just bought a new drill but I paid $50 for a battery.
Of course soon after that the shaft on a gear broke. I was able to drill the gear out and hammer a cut off drill shank into it and it works.

I have no neat recommendations about battery powered drills/screwdrivers.

Depends on the nature of the contest. You could be taking a knife to a gunfight.
Try to keep up to the current decade.
Oh? Don't take my word for it, we'll ask the group. Collectively we have thousands of miles ridden here this year, in sundry parts of America.
Raise your hands if any of your rides this year resembled this:
