The air valve on the front wheel seems stuck at the 11 O'Clock position as well...so throw that in the owner's face as you negotiate! And while the classic Merckx bend of the bars is great, Eddy has retired, so how the hell are you going to turn the bike without him???

This should be a great negotiation, Dnvrfox! You have all kinds of ammunition...

OK - with a larger, "sharpened" view, can you find any more faults, BP?

That seatpost is kind of squiggly, isn't it? And the QR levers are kind of dodgy as well...

I don't care for aluminum frames but if those components were on a Trek steel frame from that era, I would not hesitate to buy it at that price. Could be the just bike for you, if you like aluminum. You will like the way that suntour group shifts. My latest bike has a very similar set of components and it is very smooooth.

Current price of a new 1200 is $900.00. If the bike fits, I'd probably go for it.

Personally, I love the color scheme. And we all agree that Suntour Superbe is all that. But what about the frame? As I think about it, those early aluminum frames were ultra-harsh. Can you test ride it?

Off-off topic, and nothing against Blackberry's always articulate use of language, but who the hell decided that an arrangement of color should be referred to as a "scheme?" Like it's a plot to rob a bank or defraud investors?

Sigh...

From dictionary.com:

Main Entry: scheme
Function: noun
1 : a combination of elements (as statutes or regulations) that are connected, adjusted, and integrated by design : a systematic plan or program <an administrative inspection scheme>

Yeah, yeah, whatever. Maybe it's the cynic in me, but "scheme" means a plot with no good intention!
Besides, DG was the bloke who brought up the lousy color combination of the bike in the first place.

Maybe it's a geared track bike...with water bottle cage just in case you get thirsty, and a pump in case you get a flat, and brake calipers in case you want to add brake cables later on when it's time to stop? Works for me!!!

Yep...because I thought the colors were lousy, and the design had no good intention!

See, this is what happens when you turn digital camera technology loose on an unsuspecting, and, dare I say it, untalented, public. EVERYONE'S an artist!!!!

"Scheme" is what I do every Sunday morning as I unlock the church: "Which color stole will look best with my black robe?" Unfortunately I don't have any yellow-red combinations, but I think if Dnvr likes the bike, he should just "Trust and Obey." (He'll know what I mean!)

Edit: I think I miss-understood what you were driving at, Dnvr. Yes the church is locked when no one is present. I'd be surprised if your church IS NOT locked if no one is around. Insurance deems such a policy. Unfortunately you can't trust people to respect property. Just think about all the churches that have been burned during the last decade. Very sad.

the Turbo saddle is worth some scheckels just on itz own.
Suntour, Mavic Open4, nice stem and bar - just add eggbeaters, new rubber if needed

my idea of a bike...

57, yust my size...
